Bad coverage has gotten much worse

Using Samsung J7 (2016) and Samsung J7(2018) phones - one with Android 8.1.0 and the other with Android 9

Wifi Calling does not appear anywhere on the phone under any setting or option. Signal strength is pretty much non-existent. Maybe if you hang out the window and wiggle your left toe, you might get to place a call, but it will almost certainly disconnect within seconds.

This was NOT the case until the last couple of days. There were times when the coverage would be shabby, but never as bad as this.

This is in the area where PA/DE/MD come together.

Hello @dovign

Thank you for reaching out about your coverage so we can take a closer look into what's going on!

Shoot us your zip code so we can start by looking into the area.

In the meantime, check out more details on our Wi-Fi calling and if your device and plan qualify you for the feature.

Was your device purchased through AT&T? Even if AT&T sells the same make/model, a device sold by another carrier or by the device manufacturer may function differently.

The Samsung J7 2017 and later should have Wi-Fi calling available unless it was not purchased through AT&T.

Have you utilized the Mark the Spot app to record spots where you are not receiving the best coverage? This app will also inform you if there is anything going on with the towers around you.

Let us know if you have any further questions and stay safe!

The zip code is 21921. It all shows up as 5G on the coverage map, but reality is quite a bit different. In our little corner of world, there are many dead zones.

When I first purchased my Samsung phone WiFi calling was available and then it disappeared. I think it is unfair to exclude the service for customers who purchase their phones from another source.

Greetings @dovign!

Our sources show no tower experiencing service interruption in your area. If you haven't already you may want to use our Device Support center to check for software updates.

One other step that may help is to remove and reinsert the SIM card of your devices as, over time, they can become loose or damaged and may need to be re-seated or replaced.

Also, please be advised that considering your phones are Bring Your Own Devices (BYODs) it's possible to experience different levels of coverage and data speed, depending on the device's supported frequency bands.
