AT&T Service is horrible

For the past 2 years my cell service has gone down hill at my house. I’ve tried to just deal with it, but it is to the point that in order to have phone calls, I have to stand by my door with it open and I’m unable to send pictures using cell service. I am about to switch carriers.

Hi Jenalee1! We are here to help cellular service and picture message concern!

If you haven't already, please power cycle your device and reinsert your SIM Card to reset your device. Also, reset your network settings to refresh your connection, navigate to change device on top of the article to get personalized steps for your device.

Ensure that your device software is updated to the latest software, this ensures that all your device apps are running on the latest software version. Check out our no service at home article for more information regarding dead zones and the causes of low signal & speeds, it also recommends wi-fi calling in areas of little/no signal.

For Multimedia message service, we recommend turning off wi-fi as it is known to interfere with MMS service. Also, ensure that LTE is turned on as this is needed for MMS service. Turn off your Advanced messaging if applicable on your device, as this is also known to interfere with Multimedia message service.

Lastly, check out our helpful troubleshoot & resolve tool to help fix your picture message concern and your cellular data connection. You'll need to navigate to Fix my wireless>Sign to start. Let us know what type of device you are currently using to better assist you with personalized troubleshooting steps.

We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

We have tried all of the above and have even gotten new phones. The tower servicing our area has been degrading over the years. A new tower was put up in the town next to mine and ever since then, our service has been terrible. This doesn’t just affect me, I know several people who have issues.

Use wifi calling?

I have Wi-Fi calling enabled, but I shouldn’t have to rely on it for making phone calls when I pay the amount that I do for cell service. Also, the issue spreads throughout my town. Since it’s a small town, it seems like it doesn’t matter that we don’t have the best service. Users with Verizon have great service, so I will likely be switching if nothing is done about the issues.

Hi, ! You've been very patience and thank you for utilizing our recommendations. We really appreciate your team work!

As our ACE mentioned, Wi-Fi Calling is a very popular feature that will support you when a wireless signal is not available. We completely understand how you feel about not replying on this feature and we want to help strengthen your connection. Allow us to take a look into your area to check for any network tower outages and let's see if there are any current maintenance being provided. So let's meet in a Direct Message, which is the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums. In the meantime, you can learn how to find service outage information and network coverage available in your location by accessing another one of our helpful Forum articles labeled Dropped Calls & Low Signal - Solutions From the AT&T Community

We look forward to working with you!

My house is a couple hundred feet from a highway and major 4 lane road.  We live near the top of the hill.  Our signal in our house (Edited per community guidelines)S.  We were told there is 5g here but we we not on a 5g plan.  I just upgraded to a new phone with ATT 5g unlimited plan and calls STILL (Edited per community guidelines) (Edited per community guidelines).  Been here 2 years dealing with it and with new phones paying this much for the elite level connection, I agree, I should have a quality signal.   I do have wifi calling enabled as well but my ATT signal drops on every call!  If I have said or heard "are you there?" once, it had been thousands of times.  This has been on multiple Apple and Android phones with different plans... it's ATT!!!

I couldn’t agree more. My service inside my house used to be decent. Now it’s terrible. I live 35 minutes west of Philadelphia so it’s not my area. I’m planning on jumping to Verizon or xfinity once I pay off my iPhone 12 Pro. I’ve been a Att customer for 9 years and I’m done.

Coverage is king, it's what you're paying for. If you're not getting good coverage, it's time to switch services.

@Mdawg  I recommend paying that phone off, unlocking it, and taking it with you to your new carrier.
