AT&T Fixes: No Service or Searching on iPhone

Solutions for Text, Calling, and LTE Connections on iPhone

Having the issues below?

  • Trouble sending or receiving text messages
  • Can't connect to the internet/ LTE network
  • Call trouble
  • No service or searching error message
  • iPhone messages not going to Android

Try two quick fixes first

Restart your phone or toggle airplane mode on then off.

If the fixes do not work, check out more solutions below. Have an Android device? Check out our Android Text & Call article.

Apple vs Android Messaging

When iMessage is in use, it may prevent Andriod users from receiving the message. This is because iMessage uses servers that do not communicate with AT&T. Try turning off iMessage and test.

Reset the network

Resetting the network restores the default settings on the device. Be aware, Bluetooth pairing and Wi-Fi settings are deleted and will need to be readded. You will not lose data like pictures, videos, or text.

1. From the home screen, tap the Settings icon.
2. The settings section will open, scroll down until you see General and select it.

3. From the general screen, scroll down until you see the reset option. Select Reset.

 4. You will be taken to the reset screen. Select Reset Network Settings.

5. If your phone is password-protected, enter your code.  You will be taken to a new screen to reconfirm the network reset. Tap on Reset Network Settings and your phone will reset.

A damaged phone can cause loss of service

If you started experiencing these issues after your phone was dropped or received some type of impact, a reset may not resolve this as the phone may be damaged.

Hi @palmetto564,

I am sorry you are having issues with iPhone service. I am elated to offer assistance with this!

I completely understand how important it is to have service on your iPhone at all times. The first thing I will suggest is our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool as this has many options to fix service issues. Once you open the link, please select your make and model of device, then select Phone calls which will be under Service/ network issues. Let me know if you have any questions!

Have an amazing rest of your day!

It is doing the "searching" thing again.  None of these troubleshooting tips were helpful.  I have tried everything posted on this site plus everything recommended at apple site except a hard reset of my phone.  If I do not have service by the time I get off work, I am going straight to another carrier and changing my service.  I have been with ATT for many years and have never had an issue that was not addressed quickly but this is ridiculous.  I need my phone to work.

My iPhone 8 says no service but shows that I am connected to WiFi and allows me to use WiFi. How can I fix this?

I recently got a new iPhone 8 Plus on Monday 12/18. I have had two friends send me screen shots of texts that I never received. Is his a phone issue? Or ATT issue? I don’t like the idea on text messages not being reliable. Can anyone help?

Yes about 60% of the time. It definitely starts every day at 5:01pm but also throughout the day and into the wee hours of the morning. I've done reset etc . Text messages do not go through either. Or show up days later. Same with voice mails. This all started in November. What gives AT&T. Your service is not "cheap" my bills are paid on time. This is on IPhone 4 and also IPhone 5. I won't upgrade my iPhones until the AT&T service gets reliable.
