Are you supposed to have a VPN set up on any phone with any wireless companies?

Are you supposed to have a VPN set up on any phone with any wireless companies ? 
I have a iPhone 11 At&T and there’s no vpn in neither of my phone lines settings so how do I go about getting the vpn number to put it on my device

You don't have to use a VPN on your cell phone, but it's absolutely a great way to protect your privacy while browsing the internet.


We recommend using the AT&T Secure Wi-Fi VPN for AT&T Mobile Security Plus.

Not sure what you are asking. To set up a VPN, you need a VPN login to a private network. You don’t need a VPN when you are on ATT’s cellular network, it is already private and secure. A VPN is generally used when you are on public WiFi. As noted, you can connect to ATT’s private network when on WiFi by using the Mobile Security Plus app.
