5gE and android

My family just switched to att and on a family plan. We all have the same phones, samsung s21. My sons phone is the only one that has this problem and we live together so location is not the issue. His phone will go to 5gE ànd nothing will work. Randomly switch to 5g and fine for a minute then back to 5gE. And not just at home, even driving around his phone is on it and wont work. We were told to do a network reset, didnt work. How do we get rid of 5gE or turn it off?

Hello@ Allow us to share some information about 5Ge!

The 5G E indicator on the device lets customers know that they are in an area where optimized LTE Advanced technologies are available and the customer has a capable device.

For 5G network, please make sure your son also has a 5G capable device, sim card, 5G plan and on a 5g network.

Let us know if this addressed your concern!

Good Afternoon @Rkeele3289 Let's look into this for you!

First, if you haven't already please reset your network settings at Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Networks also make sure to switch from LTE on your network settings

Also, you can Troubleshoot and Resolve by going to Fix an issue >Service Issues > 5G

We hope this helps!

Hey there, @!

Try resolving your experience by following these instructions on your son's Samsung Galaxy S21:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Connections.
  2. Tap on Mobile Networks.
  3. Tap on Network Mode.
  4. Select LTE/3G/2G (Auto), LTE/CDMA, or one of the other 4G/LTE options to prevent the phone from using 5Ge.

We want to advise that 5Ge is LTE, only faster. Enabling or disabling LTE will enable or disable 5Ge.

Let us know if this helps!
