5G Planned Expansion Map by Tower
Any what to find out when particular towers broadcasting ATT 4G/LTE will be upgraded to 5G?
I’m on the fringe area of a 5G ATT tower that’s about 6 miles away from which I can get one bar out on the second story deck of my home, but I would need to purchase a $300 cellular booster and yagi to make it viable within the house.
The ATT 4G/LTE tower is only about 2.5 miles away, but is disappointing as far as data speed.
Don’t really want to spend the money and go to the bother of installing the equipment if the nearest tower will be upgraded to 5G in 3-4 months. 3-4 years would be a different story.

Nothing like that exists to my knowledge. I’m quite certain ATT does not publish anything like that.

Have to agree. Carriers don't like to let the public know where there stuff is. Especially not the 5g. You know, protestors.

Is it probable that all of ATT’s LTE towers will be upgraded to 5G within 1 year or so?

Hello BoondocksBob,
We're constantly optimizing out network to deliver the best possible wireless service by adding new cell sites, adding bigger data pipes to increase data speeds, fewer dropped calls, and improved service quality. You can learn more here. AT&T is Working diligently to upgrade towers for the new network.

After 47 years with Bell/ATT as my primary provider for home communication services, I finally moved to StarLink last month.
This was after trying many times for 3 years to get the vector from the tower 1.8 miles from me adjusted a couple degrees (300 yards) to cover my location with a stronger LTE signal (even though ATT broadcasts 5G from that tower and I hit that vector .5 miles north of my house) and after spending $700 to purchase and time to install a cell booster and upgrade it with a Yagi, splitter and 2 internal panel antennas in order to to be able to capture ATT 5G from a tower 7.2 miles away.
We had been spending about $4k a year with ATT for our cell phones and wireless home internet and phone service, mainly to get internet service in our rural area. The StarLink has been up and running for 3 weeks and has exceeded my expectations, and next month we’re cutting off the ATT wireless internet, using VOIP with our StarLink and looking for a lower cost provider to provide us with basic cell phone service.
I realize ATT losing a loyal, long-term, $48k a year customer probably won’t make any difference to them, but voting with my pocketbook has became seemingly my only and last resort, so I have.
