2G only phone after AT&T shuts down 2G

Hello,

I am planning to use a Nokia 106 with AT&T service. This phone only supports 2G 850MHz/1900MHz and does not support 3G. I will only be using it for phone calls and text messaging, nothing else. My question is, after AT&T shuts down 2G by the end of 2016, will my phone still work for phone calls and texts?

Thank you in advance for your answer

The sad news is,it won't work after 2016 when they turn off  2G.

It already happen to my Motorola V3, 2G only phone,I got no coverage at all in the marketplace part of town in Great Falls MT.Because that part of town only have 3G,4G coverage.

All the smartphones,Samsung,Sony Xperia,IPhone etc etc are working, but not my Motorola.

Unfortunately no, in fact AT&T is already begin shutting down 2 G in a lot of states you can go to at&t.com and click on coverage viewer at the top while you're looking at the map, the striped orange areas indicate where 2G has been shutdown and now requires a 3G or newer phone.

So you will need to purchase at 3G handset in order to continue using any service.
