The $200 is not the retail price of the iPhone 6. it runs $350 - $650. The price you paid is for the prepaid subsidized price. Had you paid full retail price, the phone would be unlockable. Since you purchased a subsidized phone, you must meet the unlock requirements to get your phoneunlocked.

@kdfederer Is correct.  You bought off the prepaid rack.  Every prepaid carrier sells free or discounted phones with a service requirement up to 12 months.  ATT requires 6 months service on each phone bought at a deep discount.   That is per phone, not per account.

@foxhound84 You are not understanding. You did not pay full retail price for the phone, you got it at a discount. That discount also means you must use it on ATT for 6 months to get it unlocked. If you had no intention of using on ATT, why did you buy an ATT locked phone?

I had 900.00 64 GB  ATT phone and moved Rock Springs Wyoming in 3/2014. My husband’s job moved us here.  AT&T kept sending me messages on my phone that ours out of my area and could not use this phone. I had to go buy a completely new phone exactly like it. They said they would unlock this phone that I am texting him now through Wi-Fi, that was March 2014 and it is now November 2017 still out. So whoever gave This person has the best Answer has no idea what they’re talking about. This $900 phone can only be used on Wi-Fi like a iPad and the new phone that I purchased through Verizon no longer works.

PROBLEM Solved is a bunch of BULL CORN.

I’ve had my phone and they lied and said that they unlocked it and they did not. I would not have changed in the first place if they did not have blotched service here in Wyoming. It shows it works but I kept getting a text from AT&T that I could no longer use their service because it was out of my cold area.

@MeLaurKy The answer given here is specific to the original question asked. Just because the answer does not apply to you does not mean it is wrong. Whatever you are talking about is totally different but ATT will gladly unlock your phone if it meets the unlock requirements.

well, now, I have been an ATT customer 15 years with iphone since Christmas. I meet all the qualifications too.

I HAVE A REAL PROBLEM WITH A COMPANY LOCKING A PRODUCT THAT HAS BEEN PAID FOR AND CANNOT, I REPEAT, CANNOT GET SERVICE, BECAUSE IT IS PREPAID.  WHAT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO LOCK ANYTHING OF MINE. MINE...NOT YOURS...MINE
