Let's share the personal device requirements necessary to successfully unlock your phones, !

In addition to our ACEs response, there are requirements that you must meet in order to unlock your phone. Prepaid devices must be active for at least six months of paid service. You did mention that you've had service for five days. Your phones aren't eligible to be unlocked until you've had at least six months of service. You'll want to fulfill the list of requirements then go back and resubmit your request using the device unlock portal.

Here's the list of general requirements for all unlock requests:

  • The device must be designed for use on, and locked to, the AT&T wireless network.
  • It must not be reported lost or stolen.
  • It’s not associated with fraudulent activity.
  • All the device’s service commitments and installment plans are completed, and all early termination fees are paid in full.
  • The device is not currently active on a different AT&T customer’s account.
  • If you performed an early upgrade, you must wait the 14-day buyer’s remorse period before you can request to unlock your previous device.
  • Visit our Unlock Support page for the full requirement list

How to request a device unlock:

  1. Go to our Device Unlock portal.
  2. Select Yes if you are an AT&T Customer, No if you are not an AT&T customer
  3. Enter your telephone # if you are an AT&T Customer. Enter your IMEI if you are a non-AT&T Customer.
  4. Follow the prompts.

We hope this information helps explain why you're unable to unlock your device at this time.

Did you meet all of the eligibility requirements? You posted in prepaid. Prepaid phones required six months of paid service on AT&T prepaid before they are eligible to be unlocked .

Paid for or not, there is a minimum service requirement your phones do not meet. They won’t be unlocked until the unlock requirements are met.

I was told by SEVERAL  associates that if I canceled the service that I had for 5 days and pay for the devices they would be unlocked NOBODY said I had to wait six months sixty days I don't care 100 days I paid for the device after I canceled the service like I was told by an associate. I did what I was told I wouldn't keep service with the company for five minutes let a lone six months. I'll just let the FCC deal with it. Cause I put in several complaints

all your complaints will go nowhere its at&t policy you agreed to it when you signed up for service regardless of who told you what its what in writing that counts. why wouldnt you buy an unlocked phone rather than a locked phone?

Oh best believe they will get unlocked whether they will do it or not. I didn't just buy locked phones you probably should of read everything before you spoke. I was with the company had service with them I wanted to cancel. Which they won't cancel the account either. So if your policy is to (Edited per community guidelines) people great job. At the end of the day AT&T wont get a dime from me and I will make sure everybody I know that has AT&T which is a lot will now be supporting Verizon because AT&T is trash 🗑 🤷‍♀️

Hello Chrissy_DaBaby, we apologize that at this time you're not able to unlock your device.

The 14 days is for the buyer's remorse (BRE) period to return the device.

It's one of the requirements with an  AT&T PREPAID phone to have paid service for at least six months to unlock the device. The unlock request cannot be fulfilled until the requirements are met.

Hopefully this information helps, and thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums.

Your FCC complaint will get you a response from corporate. Let us know if they go ahead and unlock the phones but I bet they won’t. Not sure what your “AT&T wont get a dime from me” comment means if you’ve already paid for the phones.
