Transferring phone number to new microSIM card

I currently have an older phone with a regular sized SIM card on a GoPhone account. I just ordered a new phone that came with a microSIM card. How can I transfer the phone number to the new phone? Can I just call AT&T and have them update the SIM card associated with this number? Do I need to look into one of these cutting tools online to cut my current SIM card? Or, do I need to go into an AT&T store and they can handle this (even though I'm not buying anything new from them).

Thanks.

you can either call AT&T or you can activate through the website.

Since it is a different size SIM, you can activate the new sim on your old number.

Thanks for your reply. Maybe I did something wrong but when I entered the old sim card, it said it was already activated and didn't give me any further options. When I entered the new sim card number, it tried to get me to pick a plan with no other options.
