Refund for 1-year prepaid plan
I signed up for a a 1 year prepaid plan around +$300, on the first week of February.
before activating my sim I called the customer service if my phone will be supported after the the 3G will be turned off,
the agent re assured me that having a 4G, Volte capable phone I will not be affected. Now, my phone stills works I can still browse but incoming calls are not getting thru, and outgoing calls are directed first to att and then it will dial the number that I contacted. Can I still get a refund, I've used it for less than a month. I don't mind getting charge for the data that I consumed, but I just want to refund the unused 11 months, which I paid upfront.

Prepaid does not refund.
Which phone do you have?

Unfortunately, AT&T does not refund prepaid services. It doesn't matter whether you've purchased a single month or a full year.
What model phone?
If it's not whitelisted, you will need to replace it.

That brand has been banned in the USA for a few years. Even T-Mobile imei check will refuse it.

Yeah, but the customer service rep that I talked to convinced me that it will not be affected, hopefully I can get even a portion of my money.

Again they don’t refund. If you want to keep the phone then find a provider that it will work on and eat the loss. Otherwise get a compatible phone.

That's why I posted T-Mobile's IMEI check. If T-Mobile won't take that phone, no one will. Huawei is still banned.
But if he's okay owning a phone that's mining his personal information... 🤷🏼♀️

Let's clarify which devices are compatible with AT&T's upgraded network, markanthonyana!
We apologize for the misinformation provided to you. It’s important to check the model numbers next to your device to make sure it’s still supported since the 3G network shutdown. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro isn't on the list of supported devices. Please take a look at the list to find a compatible prepaid device. As our ACEs mentioned, AT&T PREPAID doesn't offer refunds. We'd be more than happy to provide a courtesy credit to your acocunt for the inconvenience. If you'd like to accept this alternative, reply back and let us know.
Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community!

ATTHelp providing a one month credit so the OP can have time to replace his phone is reasonable.
Huawei phones should be blocked from network by imei.
If ATT had an imei check, it would have been blocked in the first place, rather than allowing it on the network and buy a full year's service
