reactivate sim/esim or get new one?

My sim card has time on it but i downloaded it to my phone via the esim feature and tried to switch it back and it deleted both of them and im not sure what to do about it.

AT&T physical SIM cards cannot be reactivated once deactivated. If you converted your physical Sim to an esim on your iPhone, that function should have worked if done correctly.

You will have to call AT&T, from another phone if necessary to have them reactivate the esim with your current phone number. Since you are prepaid that may or may not be possible. You may have to go to a store for a QR code if you didn't have one previously.

Convert a physical SIM to an eSIM on the same iPhone
  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular.
  2. Tap Convert to eSIM. If you don't see Convert to eSIM, your carrier doesn't support this option. ...
  3. Tap Convert Cellular Plan.
  4. Tap Convert to eSIM.
  5. Wait for your eSIM to activate. ...
  6. Remove the physical SIM from your iPhone.
