Porting # from another Pre-Paid Company

I am thinking of switching from my current provider (Straight Talk) over to AT&T's pre-paid services. The question is, would I be able to port my current number over to AT&T?

I have a wife with serious medical issues and speak to doctors daily and we spend quite a bit of time on the road back and forth to the medical centers and hospitals for test and I kind of need to keep the same number. So if it's possible, that would be a plus in my decision in which way to go.

Let us help you with transferring over to AT&T, @Rumplestilkson.

 

We understand how important it is to keep your number and stay connected with your wife's medical providers. To start the transferring process, you want to find out if your number is eligible when switching to AT&T. Just enter your current number, then click Check My Number

 

If your number is eligible to transfer, you’ll have to share info about your current account to start the transfer process. Any wrong info may cause a delay. Check a recent monthly bill or sign in to your current account to verify these:

  • Number you want to transfer
  • Account owner name and address
  • Account owner's Social Security number or Tax ID
  • PIN or password, if applicable
  • Current account number

After you gather all the information needed, all you have to do is activate a new line with the number you are transferring from your current carrier. 

 

Also, as our ACE @formerlyknownas stated, you will want to be sure the device you are bring over is compatible with our network. You can check our eligible devices by searching the make and model of your device. If you do not see your device on the list, then we do not support it. You can check out and purchase a device that does work on our network.

AT&T prepaid website allows you to enter your current phone number so that you can find out if it is portable.

AT&T 3-g shut off has created a problem for some phones that were not made for North America. If you are bringing your own device please make sure it is unlocked and that the model number is on the list of compatible devices, otherwise you will need to replace your phone.

Best way of checking the phone is checking the IMEI against cricket

Non carrier branded phones that will work on AT&T now that 3-g is gone
