Not receiving *some* SMS messages

My wife switched to the AT&T Prepaid plan recently. It took while on a support call to get everything working and all seemed OK. But today we found that she is not able to receive text messages from our son, who lives locally and is on an AT&T Postpaid plan. She was able to exchange messages with a friend in another state (don't know her provider) and can exchange with me (also on Prepaid), but specifically not with our son (although he received her messages). Any ideas?

Not an answer but there appears to be issues with some and text messages. iMessage, which uses Apple's servers works fine but non-iMessage texting seems to be hit and miss for some. Calling Support is a waste of time in my experience because they haven't a clue.

It's actually working now. My son had his messaging app on some sort of "Chat" mode. He turned that off and messages now come through.

Hi, rochrunner! We are so glad that you have gotten the SMS problem resolved. 

 

Normally, the messages are supposed to come directly into the the phones message app and bypass any apps unless he had them synced with another app or he has the app in chat mode.  So it looks like that turning off chat mode was able to resolve the problem and your son is now getting his messages again.
