New sim card recognized but cannot make calls

I am a new AT&T customer. I ordered the $15 prepaid plan with the sim card and requested to port in my phone number. Got the package today and the sim card is recognized in my unlocked phone with AT&T signal bars. But I cannot make any phone calls even by dialing 611. There is no dial tone or any other sound during dialing. on the other hand, I tried to set up my prepaid account but failed because my phone number is not recognized by the system and this no any other temporary phone number but only my current number is showing on the package. please help. thanks

What kind of phone do you have? Can you confirm that the SIM card is correctly inserted in the device? With more details, we'll be able to proceed.

Pretty much the same thing that's happening for me. When I try to activate my SIM online, it says it's already activated with my transferred number, but that number isn't associated with any account. Tried activating by phone but it says the SIM is activated with another account.

Did you text an activation code when you put your SIM card in? I think that may have been what messed up my activation.

Thanks for your info. and it works now. It was stuck on phone number port-in process. I had to call the customer service and waited a long time before I was able to talk with a representative, who fixed the problem right away by confirming the port-in information.

I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE PAST 2.5 HOURS, BEEN TRYING TO CALL IN BUT ALL I GET IS THE STUPID AUTOMATED CRAP......SHOULD'VE STATYED WITH THE OLD SERVICE PROVIDER!!!!

Hi

I just activated my new AT&T Sim prepared card on line everything was ok (35USD/ Month service). The Data for the internet was ok , But i can not make a call or receive a call . All i get is the Automated reply that i can not call using this line and tell me to call 611 and the other long number that requires landline . Is this compatibility issue of the phone or other connecting problem set up . Please advise
