New AT&T PREPAID!

AT&T PREPAID.PNG

 Hello Community,

We are making exciting changes to AT&T GoPhone, our prepaid service, that our customers will start to see at national retailers and online.

Starting on Friday, July 14th 2017, AT&T GoPhone is changing its name to AT&T PREPAID. New name –same great service, network and value.  You’ll see changes in verbiage, but don’t worry, everything will still work, including GoPhone refill cards and phones.

Even though the service will stay the same, we know you all will have some great questions.  Please keep reading below to get answers to all your GoPhone and AT&T PREPAID questions, as well as a great new promotion that starts July 14th 2017!

Before we get into the details, please note that you can find information on all the changes we discuss here at our GoPhone to AT&T PREPAID transition page.  You can also learn about the exciting new promotion we are offering via our support site

One important change that is happening apart from verbiage changes, is the website where you will manage your account.  The new URL is att.com/myprepaid. Please Bookmark/Favorite this new location for future reference. Don’t worry though, the MyGophone link will also continue to work at launch as well.

As I mentioned above, the main changes are around verbiage, so here are some of the big changes to expect:

  • Refill will now be referred to as Pay, Make a Payment, and Payment.

  • Packages and Features will be referred to as Add-Ons and Optional Services.

  • GoPhone Refill Card and Refill PIN will be referred to as AT&T PREPAID Refill Card, and AT&T PREPAID PIN.

  • Rate plan expiration and expiration date will be referred to as Payment Due date, Due Date, and Payment Date.

You can also view our FAQ to answer some of the more common questions:

  • I have a GoPhone refill card. Will it still work with AT&T PREPAID?

  • I just purchased a GoPhone device but have not activated it yet. Will it still work with AT&T PREPAID?

Thanks so much for the great community feedback, and we hope these are welcome changes!   As always, please post any questions you may have below!

To Tim or any AT&T employee

Will there be additional plans offered with the new AT&T prepaid?  I would like to suggest AT&T mobility add a $70 plan similar to T mobile one prepaid that includes a 3G hotspot.  Considering AT&T offer unlimited postpaid WHPI,Hotspots and Connected car plans i do not think it's too much to ask for a tethered hotspot plan with max speed of 512 kbps.

Perhaps the exciting part is yet to come....

@buglebug.  At this time, T mobile does not have the coverage to be direct completion or both Verizon and ATT might match their plans.   Since you ask, I gather T-mobile doesn't cover you.

Hello lizdance40 ,

T mobile started scant coverage in my area around march. Their coverage map state fair (occasional indoor)coverage but in certain directions there is no coverage. I suspect until their 600 mhz spectrum is deployed their maps will continue to show scant coverage.

I am a current AT&T prepaid customer.  I'm trying to look at at&t as fairly as i can.  And truly believe AT&T should add an additional plan that has unlimited on device data that includes a 3G hotspot with max speed of 512 kbps similar to T mobile one prepaid. Perhaps $70 monthly. As previously stated,AT&T has unlimited postpaid WHPI,Hotspots and Connected car plans so a prepaid smartphone hotspot of 512 kbps is not unreasonable. It likely would be very competitive and increase ARPU as i understand it.

Hi @Car121

Great question.  Here are the details on the promotion we are offering.  Currently this promotion is available to customers creating a new line of service.  We may have new deals in the future, so I recommend checking back with our AT&T PREPAID homepage regularly for the latest offers.

Thanks so much.

Is this the reason I now get charged 1 cent daily even if I don't use my phone?

I don't use the internet on it so I don't use any data, & it's not a smart phone.

@buscando   No.  The 1 cent charge has been happening for years.  Call ATT and ask for data to be turned off on your line.  This can only be done on prepaid plans.

@mobileaddict

No.  Just "re-branding".  Why?  I have no idea, not a single new feature and the plans are several months old.  (Shrug)

FYI the unlimited $65 plan is limited speed and no hotspot, not that you can tell from the information provided.

Hi,
How do you cancel your prepaid account? Is it just by not making the next payment? Will the service then end itself?

That is correct prepaid means pay as you use service. So if you don't want service anymore don't pay for more time or don't buy phone cards. If you have auto pay, then you do need to call at&t and cancel your auto pay.

I got a message from AT&T that my old prepay plan was being discontinued and that starting Sept. 26 it would be changed to $1 day with no per minute charges...does this mean I'll be charged $1 on days the phone isn't used at all or on days when only texts are sent/received?  What about mobile to mobile calls?  I can find no details for this new plan.
