NEED ANSWERS ABOUT THE 3RD AND 12TH MONTH FREE ATT PREPAID PROMO

I need answers to this immediately or I will be switching back to MetroPCS sooner than I thought.  There is literally no information that is easily accessible from a Google search or any other forum, AT&T site, or message board for that matter regarding the promo with AT&T Prepaid for the 3rd and 12th months being free.  I have already paid 2 months into my prepaid account and switched just after the promo began to get the 3rd and 12th months free but I'm starting to get very skeptical about whether or not I'm actually going to get them because my account says literally nothing regarding my next month being free which would be my 3rd month so far.  I do not want to be charged and have to fight with people over the phone in a 3rd world country who don't speak English properly and with accents I can't understand to get this straightened out.  Your AT&T Prepaid customer service is a joke.  Why is there no email or live chat support?  All we can do is use the useless account website or call crappy customer service outside the United States?  Ridiculous.  Anyway, someone better give me more than just a generic reply saying the usual typical stuff in other threads I've seen like 'We would be glad to hear from you and solve your issue'.  I need an answer, NOT THE RUN AROUND SCRIPTS YOU USE TO REPLY, as I am sure others do too.  This whole "promo" has been the most confusing thing in the world.  Please just tell myself and others viewing this thread HOW THIS PROMO WORKS *IN DETAIL* SO THERE IS NO MORE CONFUSION.  We are paying customers at the end of the day and we deserve transparency, not people hoping we'll forget to make sure we get what is owed to us.  Thank you.

You would get a credit sometime next month.

 ATT has no email.  Period.

So why not just wait to see if you get that 3rd month free or not. Regardless of what kind of answer you get, you won't know for sure until you actually get the free month and of course you won't get any free months if you leave to soon.

That site tells me nothing I already didn't know beforehand.  Half of what is typed there is AT&T gloating about how "great" they are.  The fact of the matter is that that website among other things regarding this promo have not been as transparent as they SHOULD be.  Also, if I wait till the end of this month runs out and leave my autopay on, based on what the account is saying when logging into it, I will be charged at the end of the month for service into October.  This is exactly my point, lack of transparency.  Why does the account information when you login to the website not reflect a future promo credit for the $45 plan amount I am on?  AT&T went out of their way to "re-brand" their GoPhone service to AT&T Prepaid, but you did nothing to change the website to better and make it more versatile, let alone more useful like other carriers already have.  I know this because I had GoPhone service a long time ago and it still looks the exact same.  I know I can't be the only one who is frustrated by this.  I'll probably just get one of the free months and switch back to MetroPCS, they seem to know what they are doing more so, especially with their pricing being "what you see is what you pay", which is way more beneficial and transparent to the customer, unlike AT&T prepaid.

So you have no reason to think it isn't going to be free other than it doesn't say that?

Monthly prices eligible under this promotion are:

  • $60/month ($65 before AutoPay3)– Unlimited talk, text and data4
  • $40/month ($45 before AutoPay)– Unlimited talk and text with 6GB of high-speed data5

We are paying customers at the end of the day and we deserve transparency, not people hoping we'll forget to make sure we get what is owed to us.  Thank you.

Transparency?

Wouldn't have better to have looked for this BEFORE you switched?

I'll probably just get one of the free months and switch back to MetroPCS, they seem to know what they are doing more so, especially with their pricing being "what you see is what you pay", which is way more beneficial and transparent to the customer, unlike AT&T prepaid.

How is the cellular service?  Is it that same as MetroPCS? You seem to treat them as if they are interchangeable...

Does one work better if you travel?

Does anyone have any answers or insight on this?  I'm sure other people are searching for the answers too...

I think most people are just waiting and getting their 3rd and 12th month free.

@lizdance40 It's sign UP by 9/21, correct?

They haven't even been doing this for a year yet, right?

@Gary L

1.) If you would have read this thread entirely and actually absorbed the material and processed what I was saying effectively before you posted in a passive-aggressive hostile manner, you would have known that I have looked for all the information on Google.  Don't you honestly think that if I didn't know how to use Google, how would I have found this forum to begin with?  Not to mention, you asked the other person how long this promo has been going on for or what the dates are to sign up by, yet you are trying to school me and belittle me on how to use Google?  That's actually not only quite ironic, but hilarious as well.  Sounds like YOU may need to learn how to use Google a little better than me before you reply to threads, but hey what do I know?  But no worries.  By the way, those links were funny to post on forums like 15 years ago, but judging by your profile picture, it looks like you may have just discovered the internet, so I take no offense. 😉

2.) I don't know if I or anyone else will receive the free month because things aren't very clear.  We may or may not.  I hope we do, but that's what I'm trying to figure out.  I came here to get answers, because unlike most people, I don't claim to have all the answers and I'm humble enough to know when to ask from someone who knows more than I.  But, as it seems, real clear answers are to no avail thus far other than generic copy and paste or condescending replies; which I'm not surprised for an internet forum, it's typical.  Everyone is a keyboard warrior these days.  Anyway, I digress.  What I'm saying is this: you think they would spend some of those advertising and re-branding dollars from GoPhone to AT&T Prepaid on rebuilding their website in a new redesigned way, which would be more intuitive and useful for people like other companies I do business with.  Others have wonderfully designed websites, all of which are much more versatile and user-friendly and informative, not something that looks like it was built poorly in the 90s being used in the year 2017.  And for any site issues I have actually ran into with other companies I do actually do business with, their customer service usually makes up for a terrible website from the start--but not AT&T.  My point being, the website should be showing more in-depth information regarding AT&T Prepaid customer's account history and current status of promos or credits on the account like I've seen other companies do.  Even the AT&T postpaid account website does this.  So YES, it is possible to allow more information to be clear to their customers, they have just chosen not to with their prepaid customers for whatever reason(s).

3.) Transparency matters--and EVERY business who thrives and survives in an economy needs to possess this trait with it's customer relations.  These are tried and true things.  So I know I'm not the only one who has issues with the way the information regarding the promo has, or in this case, HASN'T been conveyed effectively to the consumer.  And clearly I'm not the only one who thinks so.  Most other people I have seen ask the similar questions I have regarding this promo on other threads either go unanswered or also receive the same type of replies that I have.  Unacceptable in my opinion.  So yeah, transparency matters.  And by the way, I obviously researched things before switching providers AND before I landed here at this forum.  The problem was there wasn't and still isn't that much reputable information online, and yes, including on Google, regarding this promo.  As I explained earlier, it would have been nearly impossible for me to not know how to use Google and research things properly and still end up on this forum talking to you fine people. 😉

4.) MetroPCS is just as good because it runs off of T-Mobile GSM towers and covers most of the country.  Sure, T-Mobile doesn't have as much of the market share or social hype as Verizon or AT&T, however; they do work just as well as most if not all carriers, in terms of speed and reliability, in my experience, within major metropolitan areas where I live and travel to, and even in remote areas.  I suppose you would be correct in saying when someone travels how does the network or service in general perform over AT&T or other carriers?  However, it is isn't very often I am traveling to places where there is only a population of 1,000 or even 10,000 people or in the middle of nowhere.  These types of needs are obviously subjective to the consumer and the simplicity of switching between MetroPCS, T-Mobile, AT&T plans in the US is convenient because of the GSM technologies these companies all utilize and possess.  So yes, in a way, you would say they are interchangeable and even better for consumers to jump to and from, especially with their prepaid services to get the best pricing, etc.

You literally said

"There is literally no information that is easily accessible from a Google search or any other forum, AT&T site, or message board for that matter regarding the promo with AT&T Prepaid for the 3rd and 12th months being free." (bold type added).

what could I possibly think? I did the search and found two pages that talked about it, it's got the fine print at the bottom and as popup. @lizdance40 even posted it for you. I even clarified the date for you (but you haven't realized that part yet!).

I understand you want to see credits well before the bill comes, but that's not likely to happen (as it hasn't happened yet)

Not to mention, you asked the other person how long this promo has been going on for or what the dates are to sign up by, yet you are trying to school me and belittle me on how to use Google?  That's actually not only quite ironic, but hilarious as well.

That was basically a leading question, please note I listed the answers and provided a question to get confirmation from a second person. This was specifically to get additional clarification so that readers wouldn't whine and say "but I haven't gotten my credit and it's almost 9/21!!". But I it didn't work, the facts didn't stick and you still found a way to complain...

Sounds like YOU may need to learn how to use Google a little better than me before you reply to threads, but hey what do I know?

but judging by your profile picture, it looks like you may have just discovered the internet, so I take no offense.

Sounds like I hit a sore spot because you're not really sure what "literally" means. So you're going on the offensive.

But I've been using the internet since before it was called the internet, so no worries here you young whipper snapper... I used to have to type 'AT' to send my e-mails!

2.) Whew! You really like to listen the the keyboard clicking, don't you! Then you complain we don't read it all.

This whole "promo" has been the most confusing thing in the world.

This is  NOT a complicated promo. It repeatedly says things like get an account credit the 3rd and 12th monthsI really think that is all AT&T is going to supply you with, sorry

You can keep rephrasing the question and explaining transparency, but it's not likely to help.

4.) MetroPCS is just as good because it runs off of T-Mobile GSM towers and covers most of the country....

Thank you for sharing all the details!  Don't know many people with this service.

Why did you leave MetroPCS? It can't just be worth the hassle to save two months on a 1 year offer by porting and switching and then spending time worrying about it. (That might sound more sarcastic/rhetorical than it's supposed to, but I'm seriously asking)
