is it possible to return prepaid SIM Card?

I ordered a sim card, but I was not able to activate it somehow. So I went to offline store and they ended up gave me a new line. So now I would like to return this SIM card I got from online. Even though I already opened the Sim kit, would I be able to return the SIM? I am worried that I might be charged with this SIM, so I would like to make sure this SIM I got from online is not activated.
