Prepaid does not use a transfer pin, that is for postpaid only. Prepaid should use their account pin.

Let's help you get your number transferred, @HemanthVarma!

It’s easy to transfer your current phone number when you switch to the nation’s best network.

As @sandblaster mentioned, you do not need a PIN when transferring a number to AT&T Prepaid.

You are able to check if your number is eligible for transfer by entering your phone number then click Check My Number

If the number is eligible to transfer, you’ll need to provide information about your current account to begin the transfer process. Any wrong information may delay the processing.

View a recent monthly phone bill or call your current service provider to verify:

  • Phone number you want to transfer
  • Account owner's name and address
  • Account owner's Social Security number or Tax ID
  • Current account number
  • PIN or password, if applicable

Hope this helps!

@ATTHelp thanks for your response. But, my question was actually other way around. I want to transfer my current AT&T prepaid number to another network.

Ignore @ATTHelp response. Once again, you do not use a transfer pin to port a prepaid number.

Come on, Carlton. Please get your information correct. Try reading the FAQ in the article you highlighted:

Do I need a Number Transfer PIN to transfer AT&T PREPAID or business numbers?
No. AT&T PREPAIDSM and business accounts don’t need a Number Transfer PIN. All current requirements will stay the same for number transfer requests.

Yesterday after a week of trying all sorts of combinations of numbers that AT&T gave us, I finally tried the account number (not the pin) and it worked immediately to transfer the prepaid line to Verizon! It is not the pin or all zeros as one AT&T employee said in our countless calls to them. I tried about 20 different number combinations, and the account number was the last one and worked immediately. I'm writing to hopefully save someone else the (Edited per community guidelines) that was our week of being halfway to Verizon but not totally ported over. Thank you.

@bopster03

It is an FCC requirements that the (1) account number and (2)  pin code are what is required to transfer a (3) phone number from One carrier to another.

So OF course account number was required.  It's always required.

Phone providers use different account numbers, some of them even use the phone number as the account number, some of them use the IMEI of the device you originally used to open the account (yeah, like that can't go wrong)

@bopster03 I read this forum before getting my new phone (which arrived today) and made sure I came back here and created an account to this forum just to thank you. I did as you said and phone was transferred literally 5 minutes after it was out of the box.

You wanted to save someone from the hassle... well, you did.

THANK YOU

We are trying to do the same thing, move an AT&t prepaid number to Google Fi. The online form requests, account number and a transfer pin. The two folks above got it to work by using the account number. So do we enter the account number for both fields? The account number and the transfer pin are both the account number?

And also looks like the only way to get the account number for a prepaid phone is to call and speak with somebody. But once we get that we'll just use it in both fields I guess.

@Tanquen You need your account number and account pin. The account pin is something you set yourself. Go ahead and try using the account number in both fields but I bet that won’t work.
