Hidden charges

I am visiting US on business and got a go phone with 10 cents per minute plan.

I was never told that Toll free numbers is US will be chanrged at the same rate.

AT&T is looting unsuspecting travelers without divulging all the terms of use before sales !!

I dont think there is any point breaking my head with you. You just seem to be bent on defending AT&T.

last try if you understand, otherwise this whole forum is useless to me. Just because an agent will take 30 minutes to sell a SIM card is no reason for not putting forward the product details and charges. Question of business ethics.

Do you know why a number is called a toll free number and why would it be really free in some countries. I think it is because AT&T in US does not carry on the business fairly.

Did AT&T tell you that if you call a number with a different area code it uses your minutes? Did they tell you if you call an overseas number it uses your minutes? I doubt they did.  Why? Because they take it as given that you know that information. It's the same way with toll-free numbers...they take it as given you know they aren't "toll-free" from wireless phones, because that's the only system the vast majority of their customers have known.

It's unfortunate that you didn't know all the details of cell phone usage in the US before you purchased your phone. I'm sure if I went overseas and purchased a product or service, their would be aspects that would be a surprise to me. That's called culture shock.

Anyway...as far as informing the customer, the GoPhone terms and conditions say, in part "...and standard airtime charges apply to 800, 866, 877 and other toll-free calls."
