ERROR CODE: SSACT-523 for prepaid phone with sim installed in store

I went into an ATT store, bought a SIM, for my prepaid phone, then had the staff there install the sim and port my number over. A week later, ATT says the number port is complete but I still don't have full service - I can't receive calls or send/receive texts. When I try to activate the phone online, I get the error code ssact-523.

We're here to help you get your SIM card activated, Mark561.

Since this is for a PREPAID device, make sure that you've made a payment for your selected PREPAID plan. PREPAID doesn't have a monthly bill like postpaid, so an initial payment is required in order to activate your account and service. You wouldn't be able to activate your SIM without doing this first.

Once you've done this, or confirmed this has been done, try using our PREPAID activation portal and let us know if you still get this error. If you have a physical SIM card, insert it into your device before using the activation portal.

Keep us updated, we'll be able to look into our options for activating this SIM on our side in a DM if needed.

Thank you for visiting AT&T Community Forums!

How would a person go about confirming their payment? I already set up a payment online and am getting this same error. I have tried calling to get help and can not get help set up there. It says my phone number is inactive. I would really prefer to not have to go into the store to finish setting up my phone. Can someone please help me?

Hi lavendarfields. Let's meet in a Direct Message (DM) to find out what's prompting that message when you try to sign in to your AT&T PREPAID service.

Please check your Direct Message Inbox for a message being sent to you. Look for the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums page.

If you think your payment didn't submit to our system, we invite you to check out the details under What to do if your payment is missing at Confirm your payment.

It's possible that there is a conflict that occurred somewhere with the payment system when you tried activating your service. We want to take a look into that for you so that you can start using your service soon.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the message in the DM so that we can get a definite resolution for you.

Well, as I said, I went into an ATT store where they processed my payment. It was via credit card, and did indeed go through. I have partial service, so assume that the payment is recorded somewhere. When I try to go online to activate my sim (since I have problems with calls and texts) I get the error message. When I tried going to a store again (different store, different state) they politely shooed me away, saying that prepaid phones can't be dealt with in the store. So, now it has been 2 weeks since my payment has been accepted, and I still don't have full service. I understand that people responding here are volunteers, and have no expectation that someone will be able to resolve this, but , I'm still crossing my fingers that someone will post something that will help me. :)

Update: I tried again just now, and still get the same error number.

Hey Mark, not sure if things are working for you. What did end up working for me was chatting with the port activation center to confirm my number had been ported over 888.898.7685.
