Can I resubscribe my invalid SIM card again?

When I was subscribing my previous AT&T prepaid card early this year, I told the rep that I would be out of the states for eight months and I would not pay for the plan during that time. The rep promised me to keep my phone number for me (maybe he did a note or something, I am not sure). However, now when I tried to refill my card, I got the message 'The wireless number you entered is not associated with a valid AT&T PREPAID subscriber. Please check the number and try again.'

This phone number is vital to me because I need it to log in my telegram account. There is no other way that I can log in except for verifying an SMS.

As the number is not subscribed right now, I wonder if I can have this number allocated and resubscribe it.

Thank you.

Hello @wydanielle.

We’ve got answers. You may be able to get that number activated with a new SIM card at the store or over the phone. If you are assigned a different number, you can see if your old number is available to be changed to by calling 611 from your wireless device. Select 4 for More Options, select 3 for Account Changes, and select Change Wireless Number. Thanks for reaching out to us on Forums!

The only way to keep your number for 8 months was to refill your account with $100. Since you did not do that, your account was closed. Your SIM card can no longer be used. You will need to open a new account with a new SIM card and new number. It is possible you could get that old number back  following the above instructions but very unlikely.
