Can I put my gophone number on hold

I am studying abroad for 4-6 months and want to know if I can put my gophone on hold so I don't lose my number

In the defense of the representative that you spoke with over the phone, they have an option in their system to extend the expiration date of your account. It is at their disposal. Sometimes, other representatives don't even require a payment to extend it for you to keep your number when you get back.

One way to check is going to att.com/mygophone. Log in using your phone number and your 4-digit passcode. Under your current balance, you will see when the expiration date is. You'll be able to see for yourself when the account will expire. You could even process a payment even if you're not in the U.S. as long as you have internet on you and a credit card, debit card or checking account.

One thing I would also want to point out, it doesn't matter if you have 0 or a positive balance, you can keep your number as long as you add money before the expiration date to extend it further.

Do yourself a favor, If you have a gophone & want to to keep it active for an extended period & NOT use it. Put a $100  (At ONE Time) card on it & it will keep the number active for 1 yr whether you use it or not ( ONLY IF you have a per minute plan or $2 a day, which you can change to if you want while your gone) I have a phone in my drawer I use as a spare & have had for 3 years that is on $2 a day plan & I put a $100 card on it every year & if I need more, I put it on. Otherwise I have never had a problem. VERY simple solution & NO once a month call or anything like that.
