Blocking Nuisance Incoming Messages and Calls to Prepaid

My wife and I are being driven CRAZY by nuisance SMS messages and some calls (including, of course, misdialled numbers). On our plan, they are all to OUR expense - which only makes things even more irritating. It depletes our balances without our even knowing about it. Is there ANY way we can block these things at least while I am away - I travel internationally the whole time and am out of the country a lot.

Hi @Captain_Fourbars,

Thank you for reaching out. We are more than happy to take a closer look into this for you.

Concerning the unwanted calls that cost you money based on your plan, we recommend you download the Carrier Agnostic Mobile Security since the AT&T Mobile security and call protect are only for postpaid customers.

We also suggest you change your plan to any of our new prepaid plans that have unlimited calls and texts in order to reduce the cost of the unwanted calls to you.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks SO much for the response. My circumstances are such - being out of the USA for so much of the time - that the monthly plans are uneconomic, hence the plan I am on.

The problem is this awful anachronistic system that charges ME for every wrong number I receive and every marketing, phishing and spam call or message. There seems to be no way around that as AT&T withholds so many of its services from its prepaid customers - as indeed is exampled in your own response here.

I suppose the best I can do with this system is to block all incoming contacts when I am out of the country. Dare I hope that this simple device is possible?

Greetings @Captain_Fourbars,

We understand you frustration with getting unwanted spam calls and being charged for them as well.

We'd advised you to switch your prepaid plan so that it can accommodates those unwanted calls you're receiving.

And I responded to that explaining the situation.

You speak of frustration. Your comment here suggests you may not have seen mine above or my question about blocking calls and messages while I am out of the country. A simple question about a very simple facility. Does AT&T not even provide that basic amenity?

Having put many, many hundreds of dollars into the Prepaid phones it seems AT&T's prepaid customers aren't really considered of any value or importance. Can that be the case?
