ATT sso issue

I changed from DIRECTV satellite to DIRECTV stream in December. DIRECTV satellite closed my account at the end of January and now I  cannot logon to the DIRECTV app, hbomax or Yahoo email app. I can access email via the web page and the DIRECTV stream box works except for hbomax. DIRECTV support has not been helpful and I  suspect this to be a higher level issue since the Yahoo email app is impacted as well. How do I get in touch with the right support team without going through the reset password and reinstall app solutions that I have dealing with for the past two weeks?

Hi there, @Ptalley8. We understand that you are having a problem with your account sign in. We can look at that together. 

 

First, you stated that you had DirecTV(satellite), but it was closed in December, because you switched to DirecTV Stream. That is why the standard DirecTV app is not working.  As far as HBOMax goes, DirecTV Stream has HBOMax on the Premier package.  Make sure that you have the correct package with DirecTV stream in order to use HBOMax. You will have to reactivate your HBOMax subscription by going to HBOMax.  

 

After activating your HBOMax subscription, then please go through and Sign In with Provider.  Make sure that you use your DirecTV Stream username and password.  If you need further assistance with DirecTV Stream and HBOMax, please make a post on DirecTV forums site, using DirecTV Stream.

 

As far as the Yahoo Mail app goes, we can take a look at as well.

 

Can you please tell us what errors are you getting on the app? The reason why we need to know that is, so we can troubleshoot the app properly.

For starters I can access my email using the browser interface. So my email userid/account and password are valid. This issue started in the yahoo email app with my primary email account not showing. In account management it showed as being an invalid account. After a few attempts of trying to reset the password,  I deleted the account from the app and attempted to add it back. I start with entering my email address.  I am the presented with an AT&T page to sign in with my userid and password. I am then presented with another AT&T page titled Multiple Accounts Found and I have to choose an account to "manage". Choices are AT&T Account and DIRECTV Account. I select AT&T Account. Then I get a message "something went wrong, please try again later". Using Gmail is similar up to selecting an account to manage. After selecting AT&T Account it then launches the Chrome browser, my default, I see an AT&T sign out page and then I get a new AT&T logon page. I select my userid,  enter my password  and then it goes back to the multiple account found page. From there it is an infinite loop until I give up.

So that we can determine if this is happening due to a problem with your email account or with the Yahoo! Mail app, let us know if you're able to sign in on Currently.

 

Currently is the official platform for AT&T email -- if you can sign in there, but not the Yahoo! app, we recommend that you contact their support team for further assistance.

 

We also suggest resetting your password. This will re-sync your email account and can help you sign in easily.

  1. Go to att.com/myatt.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

My working web access is through Currently. I reset my password through my att, again and still no change.

Most large corporations like AT&T have 3 levels of support, level 1 checks the basic solutions (power your PC off and back on), level 2 does more in depth research (it looks like you have run into issue X, try this fix), level 3 is typically the developers (oh crap, this is a new bug).

I've been dealing with level 1 for over 2 weeks now and and I  want to get in contact with level 2 support. My first attempt gave me a non-functioning 877 number.

Your solution of going to yahoo support because the issue happens when using the yahoo app did not work.since the userid/password validation is done by AT&T Yahoo referred me back to AT&T.

Also remember I am having similar issues with the DIRECTV and HBOMAX apps. I don't believe this is a coincidence but a sign this is really an issue with AT&T.
