HBOMax conversion to MAX
Still trying to find out if we are keeping 4K/ATmos streaming on out AT&T/MAX accounts?
Since there are now 3 tiers of MAX
Ad-supported
Ad-Free (1080P)
Ultimate (4K/Atmos)
When i log in to my MAX account, it shows (AD-Free)

We would be happy to help with information for your MAX account, @Craigsta.
As long as you make no changes to your account, you should continue to have full access without need for an upgrade, as well as access to 4k when it is available, as it is only available with select movies.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

There are Day 1 issues with the roll-out of Max that is affecting bundled and standalone subscribers. From what I've read that current tiers will be honored for maybe 6 months and then you'll have to pick and choose your service level. It sounds like the 4k/Atmos Ad-free level will be in that 6-month group but you may have to pay to keep it that way later on.

I have HBO on my Uverse TV package and I had a problem logging onto the new Max streaming app. I finally got in but it was no easy task.

I just downloaded the new Max app on my iPad and it logging in with all of my settings was a piece of cake. I deleted that HBO Max app and all is well. I'll do the same in a bit with my AppleTV4k's. However, I have the standalone app not the bundled app.

I also have the Ad Free level of subscription at the moment, but would like to upgrade to the ultimate level. Any ideas on how I would do that @ATT?

@ATTHelp thanks for the response. So are you saying my mid-tier ad free plan will be automatically upgraded sometime soon? I am logged into MAX right now, and my account shows the middle tier (Ad Free), therefore unable to stream content in 4k. The Ultimate tier is currently available, but my current plan is not reflecting that.
I was able to stream 4k content on HBO MAX just yesterday. Today, I am not.

@Craigsta, not a problem, as of now, that should be the case. You may want to try resetting your AT&T Password, as this does re-sync your account with our services. As long as no changes are made to disqualify the account, you should maintain the same level of access as before.

Max has moved from a 2-Tier subscription pricing model to a 3-Tier one where the subscription we get from AT&T is no longer the top-level subscription and we don't get 4K content any longer. We now have an "Ad-Free" subscription, but to get 4K content requires an "Ultimate" subscription, which costs $4 per month more. I would be willing to pay the extra cost, but Max does not offer an option to pay the differential and instead refers me back to AT&T for any subscription changes. Does AT&T have any plans to allow us to get an "Ultimate" level Max subscription?

Im on the AT&T Unlimited elite cell phone plan which gave me access to HBOMax where I could previously watch some shows and movies in 4k Dolby Vision via my Apple TV4k
Since the app changed from HBOMax to MAX I'm no longer able to watch those same show or films in 4k / Dolby Vision, just HD like many other users.

Daniel,
I’m not sure it’s clearly coming through that HBO Max changed their plan offerings today, with the move to Max. The plan AT&T subscribes us to no longer gets 4K in most cases. Max has added a new upper tier, Ultimate Ad-Free, that has the full privileges we had yesterday with Ad-Free. Ad-Free, in turn, has been downgraded.
People are asking how we get access to the NEW upper tier either with our plans by default or with the $4 upcharge that is the difference. HBO will not do partial billing, so AT&T needs to respond to the new plan changes and handle upcharges itself.
if nothing changes on AT&T’s side, we will stay downgraded. Continued access to 4K for most viewables would require us to ignore the AT&T benefit and pay for a whole $20 plan ourselves. Of course, I’d personally find the budget for this by cancelling AT&T.
Can you please speak to this? I guarantee you we do not have the same access as yesterday. That now belongs to the new *Ultimate* Ad-Free plan, not the now mid-tier Ad-Free plan that AT&T arranged for us.
