HBO MAX Subscription Expired?

Initially had trouble signing in to HBO but with some crazy steps support was able to help me log in. Now I’m told that by subscription has expired. I canned support and they said that after a year, it expires. I have an Unlimited Elite plan, I can’t find anything that says HBO expires after a year.

I pay a lot of this plan and I’d like to get the benefits. Is there anybody who knows how to fix this?

You might need to activate HBO Max before signing in to HBO Max the first time. To do this, sign in at att.com/myATT or open the myATT app, look for the HBO Max info on your Account page, and follow the prompts to start streaming.

Let's look into helping you access HBO Max, @Justin123abc!

Just so we're on the right track, we need a little more info about your experience.

  • What's happening when you're trying to access HBO Max? Are you receiving an error message such as mismatch in user ID and password?
    • Heads up: If you have two or more wireless accounts with different IDs be sure to sign in with each account to confirm which ID is linked to your HBO Max subscription benefit.
  • Are you subscribed under an eligible AT&T TV or mobility plan as specified here?
    • If not, follow the instructions provided at Activate HBO Max to update your plan.

Let us know how this goes. If your experience persists, reach back and fill us in so that we may provide support!

I don’t receive any error. I login on HBO MAX, I attempt watch a movie but the app switches to a page that says RENEW SUBSCRIPTION. So I select, Tap here if you already subscribed, On the “Choose Your Provider” I select AT&T, login with my AT&T username and password. Then I briefly see my HBO profile appear, then the app returns to the RENEW SUBSCRIPTION Page. This occurs over and over again.

I created an account here to say that this is the second time I've had this "subscription has expired" problem. The first time it happened was when I switched to a different unlimited plan. Getting it fixed the first time was a huge pain jumping back and forth between CSRs and HBO Max support.

This time, it just quit working - literally nothing has changed with my service plan. What the heck AT&T?!

I have been going round and round with AT&T about this problem with no solution. Customer Support Reps have no clue how to fix this issue and HBO Max support just point back to ATT. Getting support from AT&T is a nightmare and frankly I am doubtful it will get fixed this time around due to AT&T's lack of CSR training and complete lack of support for the HBO Max feature/program.

I am going to try the number that was suggested and see if that works.

Signing in to give an update to the trashfire that is ATT and HBO Max.

After going round and round with ATT CSRs, my HBO Max magically started working for a few days, the magically quit working again.

This problem is clearly not with the user and is firmly in the lap of ATT.

I guess I get to start again on the CSR merry-go-round to try to get this fixed.

ATT and HBO Max continues to be trash.

I was able to get HBO Max working again, only to have it quit working a few weeks later.

What terrible service.

Fix: (1) call ATT; (2) ask to speak to Digital Assistance Center; (3) tell them to resynchronize your ATT and HBO accounts. Problem solved in 2 minutes.

And again.... HBO Max is stating that my subscription has expired.

The fix to this seems to be to change your ATT password, then wait ~4 hours for it to propagate to HBO Max. Once the new password has made its way to HBO Max (after 4 hours), I'm able to watch again.

ATT has a *terrible* authentication framework and their product development team should be embarrassed because waiting roughly 4 hours for a password to propagate is terrible.

Since I'm impatient, I'm going to try @pleasejustwork solution.

I had the same issue where it shows my account through AT&T expired, and here was how I fixed the problem in a few minutes:

  1. Download the myAT&T app and Sign in to your account
  2. Search for "HBO Max" and then re-add the service to your account
  3. Log out and log back into HBO max
