Can't Sign in to HBOMAX - Help & Streaming Solutions

AT&T Subscriptions that include HBOMAX

In order to sign in to HBOMAX, you need to know what AT&T Plans give you access to HBOMAX. As long as you have HBO or a qualifying service plan, signing in is like signing in to your account.

If you have a qualifying plan, learn how to sign in below.

Have AT&T service that includes HBO?

You will use the same username or email that you use to sign in to your account to view or pay your bill.

Wondering what your AT&T ID is? Find it now.

Can't remember your password? Reset it now.

Heads Up: If you have multiple sign-ins or unified billing, it is recommended you verify you are using the right ID for HBOMAX

Sign in Solutions

Still having trouble signing in? Below are some useful tips to setup your account.

  • For Internet 1000 or Unlimited Wireless Accounts, you may need to redeem your HBOMax offer. You can do so at http://att.com/acctmgmt/startwatchinghbomax . Click on "Get Started" on the HBO Max Tile, "Set up Account", then "Go To HBO Max".
  • If you have an older Unlimited Cell Phone Plan, you may need to register your service. You can do so at https://www.atttvnow.com/. Once you're on the site, sign in with your AT&T Wireless account information.
  • For customers with select grandfathered Unlimited Plans. Have you accessed HBO using your AT&T TV, AT&T TV NOW, DIRECTV, or U-verse TV sign-in info? If you haven't, go to atttvnow.com/accounts/select-plan. Then, select the Hey AT&T Unlimited customers! blue banner and follow the prompts. If you have, then try using the sign in credentials you used in the past.
  • If you have Watch TV or AT&T TV Now as part of your AT&T plan, you may need to sign in with those account credentials instead. Select AT&T as your provider. Once you login, it may ask you to link your accounts. Follow the instructions to get a PIN sent to you. Please be patient as the email may take up to half an hour to arrive. Be sure to check your SPAM.
  • Delete cache & cookies on your browser to make sure a previous login is not saved.
  • Try to sign in with another browser or device. For best results, sign in using a web browser on your computer.
  • Make sure you are choosing AT&T or DIRECTV as your provider and not AT&T TV.
  • Make sure you are using the right ID
  • Change your myAT&T password to a different password. Sometimes there is a conflict with your existing password or a special character causing issues. We suggest changing to a password that you have not used in the past. Once registered, you can try changing it back to your previous password.
  • Make sure you have a qualifying service

HBOMAX Standalone

What does standalone mean? If you're not subscribed to HBO with your AT&T TV, Mobile, or Internet service, it is considered standalone.

Not helpful at all. I literally logged into my AT&T account and was welcomed with a big banner telling me I had access to HBO Max. I followed all the instructions, and it even gave me a "Watch Now" button. It just doesn't work.

Same here. Definately should have HBO MAX. AT&T keeps reminding me it's included. When I try to login I get a "not included with your plan" error. :(

This worked for me. On the account overview page there is a section that says "Included on us with Internet HBO Max". I clicked the link and it activated HBO Max for my account.

Didn't work for me. Got "Welcome to HBO Max™" email, but when I try to log into HBO Max through AT&T, I get "Can’t Verify Your Subscription".

I just got off the phone with a representative. Even though my plan clearly states "HBO Max included," I was told that AT&T Wireless customers are not eligible for the full HBO Max. In order to watch this slim down version of HBO Max, I need to download another app called WatchTV which the representative sent a text with a link.

Yea we know how to do that.. that isn't the problem. The problem comes when trying to login after we've already set it up on the AT&T website.

I have the U450 with HBO. I see when i look at the bill "you have HBO max" but I don't see anywhere to "set up" on the AT&T website. I don't get the same screen that simpsot posted. Either way, it isn't working.

I upgraded my wireless plan to Unlimited Elite so I could get HBO Max included in my plan but when I sign in I get an error message saying my AT&T subscription does not include HBO Max along with service code H-4a076058-65b1-418c-8634-741ca597f650

Same problem, Got Internet 1000 fiber, got a confirmation email that i can access HBO MAX, I got the start watching now option on my account overview, but when i try logging in I get this message: "Can’t Verify Your Subscription. It looks like your AT&T subscription does not include HBO Max. If you believe you have received this message in error, please contact your provider."

Talked to a representative this morning, she said it is a problem AT&T is working on. Is that right???? Are you guys working on it?

I've been having the same exact issue. About a month ago up until today, I tried to login to HBOGO and it said it could not verify my subscription, even though I've previously had access via my wireless account (AT&T Unlimited Plus). I've just spent about 2 hours on the phone with an AT&T representative trying multiple different user IDs and reset passwords and each time, I still get the "Can't Verify Subscription" error. It's extremely disconcerting that an AT&T representative said that they've done all they can do and advised me to contact HBO Max, even though their solution is to contact my service provider and start all over. What an absolute sham. I would accept that these are Day 1 issues, but I've been having this problem with my HBOGO access for the past month and they can't even solve that. What is going on, AT&T?!?!

Same issue here. But this is another thing that AT&T seems to do. Push out products/Services without fully testing them. I have gone through this before with their other products/services... They don't care about the consumer. They just want to say, hey we have this and have their stock prices rise so they can get richer.. What a shame!!!

I found a number for HBO Max support, called them. Told them I was having issues with verifying my account with AT&T. He said you will have to call them. I asked him don't you work for AT&T? He said I am not aware of that? Then I said, but AT&T owns HBO then he starts to say, well, I guess. So I say OK, well then what do I need to do, he then says you have to all myAT&T. So basically like everything AT&T does is they pass it on..

@ATTHelpForums Your services are not talking to each other properly. I've received multiple notifications via email, text, and the account overview page that tell me HBO Max is included with my account. Great! However HBO Max cannot verify the account. Get it together or don't launch integrated services.

If you had a previous account for HBO (that has expired) and that account uses the same user ID as you use for AT&T. That could be a problem. That's what it was for me. I logged in through provider AT&T with my phone number instead and it worked.

@ATTHelpForums I am having the same issue as a lot of others, I plan says I have access to HBO Max, but it can't verify my access... "Service Code: H-d26ddeaf-2ff4-4f18-dfe1-97252034a7fe"

@hoser_dude OMG your advice worked!!! Lifesaver!! I login using my AT&T phone number associated with the account and it worked. I spent the last 3 hours on the phone with tech support with AT&T and HBO and no one could tell me why I can't login.

Well I'm glad that helped. I had same thing. Talked to text support from AT&T (3 times) and HBO and they couldn't figure it out.

@hoser_dude How do you login in with your phone number?  I can't seem to figure that part out.

This assumes you have an AT&T phone. When you try to sign up for HBO Max, you click sign uptup provider, select AT&T. It then takes you to your AT&T login. At this point you type your phone number in rather than your email address. That is what worked for me.

Having same problem, have HBO, but get error with HBO Max (But HBO Go works). AFter 45 minutes on phone with AT&T was told to contact HBO Max. I tried to do chat 8 times, and it times out after 30 minutes. So I e-mail HBO Max, no response. Now the Ipad app keeps sending me to create an account, and can't enter in my ATT account info. (tried removing app, and adding, no luck).

This is a big mess, with no one answering

I have the Unlimited Choice 2 wireless plan (considered an older plan?), and the thing that fixed it for me was creating an AT&T TV Now account. I apparently did not have one previously -- I just had a regular AT&T wireless account. After creating the AT&T TV Now account and linking it to my AT&T wireless account I was able to login to HBO Max using AT&T as my provider.

No go. Verifying my number at AT&T TV Now results in a message claiming ineligibility, despite AT&T Wireless saying my Unlimited Choice II plan includes it. I cannot create an AT&T TV Now account without signing up for the service, as best I can tell, which I'm certainly not going to do.

As of yesterday morning (Saturday May 30) I now have access. I guess they got the databases straightened out. Anyway, it's working properly on iOS, AppleTV, and desktop.

I take it back—I hadn't tried streaming anything until last night, and it does not work. I've now seen a message that says my subscription has expired, and trying to log back in and watch something boots me back to a login screen, which sometimes results in a circle. What a mess.

Hello,

I found the solution.

I had the same problem, I have an Unlimited Plus plan but I could not have access to HBO Max when the description of my plan includes it. But I found the solution. I found this article on the At & T support page. https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1261921

Go to the part where it says "if you have other select AT&T unlimited plans" and follow the instructions.

Apparently the Unlimited Plus plan does not exist, you have to create an account on AT&T TV now

https://www.atttvnow.com/accounts/select-plan?_ga=2.73446802.1617021463.1591049028-1334413330.1589209114

then, select the Hey AT&T Unlimited customers! banner at the top and follow the prompts.

Hope this helps you.

isn’t it funny how AT&T is screwing so many people with this free HBOMAX Scam I also switched my wirelsss plan to Unlimited Elite so I could enjoy HBOMAX only to be told my Ultimate Elite account doesn’t include HBOMAX when I attempted to logon, guess AT&T has different Ultimate Elite Plans and we all got the one they said included HBO by mistake lol!

looks like AT&T is screwing everyone and doesn’t plan on correcting it so Only recourse is to move wireless service to Spectrum I’ve been with AT&T for over 10 years but they just don’t care about customer so I’ll call again tomorrow and tell them switch my plan back until I can move to spectrum for good.

After 3 months of endless calls and jumping onto different att departments. it worked for a friend of mine and mine should work soon - will update if anything changes. I refused to give up, I and my friend have 19 phone lines so either I would have made att pay for my hbomax or I would have simply taken away all the lines to a different carrier. Use this link to select the hbomax premium whihc you want to choose for next 12 months.

https://www.attwatchtv.com/accounts/choose-premium.

Only problem if you started on a different plan and changed it to unlimited elite your account will be set up according to that plan and not unlimited elite which is very weird. it should automatically change to the new one but it doesn't not. so you will have to tell the customer rep to change the status of your plan.

Ok wow that took like an hour to figure out. I have the AT&T Unlimited Plus plan

1. Click this link and sign up at atttvnow.com  https://www.atttvnow.com/accounts/select-plan?_ga=2.73446802.1617021463.1591049028-1334413330.1589209114

2. Click on the blue banner at the top that says "hey AT&T Unlimited Customers! ...Let's verify your number

3. Create a new text message on your phone and follow the prompts to text the word shown on your computer screen to the number 2885

4. The screen then automatically updates with a message. On your phone, download the HBO Max app. Click "Already Subscribed? Sign In" Then click "Sign in with TV or Mobile Provider". CLICK ON AT&T TV NOW

5. A message appears "Allow "HBO Max to use your TV Provider subscription? Click Allow. Choose the first option: AT&T TV

6. User ID should be the email address you chose for AT&T Now. It will ask you to link your existing AT&T Now account with Hbo Max account, enter name and email and send you an email with a one time code to the email provided.

7. I cannot stress this part enough. Do not close out of the Hbo Max app to retrieve your one time code from your email/mailbox on your phone, keep the app open with the one time code page! or it keeps sending you back to enter your information over and over creating multiple emails with codes. Open your email on your computer/another device and retrieve the code while the Hbo Max app is up. Enter the one time code. You should now be in.

Besides Hbo Max app / bluetooth to your tv, you can also use that email/pw combo to log into hbomax.com.

Hope this helps

Upgraded my wireless plan to Elite Unlimited purely because they offered HBOmax. Whenever I try to log in to HBOmax I get a message saying my account needs to be verified. I tried chatting with At&T help online and they just keep waiting 20 minutes between responding before asking "have you tried logging into myat&t app or online?" They've made me log in twice. They are just giving me the run around. I'm so disappointed I left t-mobile for this crap.

After hours of trying to get the HBO Max working, not one AT&T specialist could figure it out. I signed up for the Unlimited Elite and I feel ripped off at this point. Nothing they suggest works.

Mine is working as of several weeks ago. I didn't do anything special—just tried logging in again one day and it was all systems go (my plan is Unlimited Choice II). I assumed they got their databases straightened out, but it looks like people are still having problems. Sad.

Great job AT&T! What a masterclass!

I Hope this can help someone. I had the same issue as everyone. I had HBO Go with my unlimited plan, and when they moved to HBO Max I could never get passed the login screen and kept getting subscription not verified.
I saw someone here post a recommendation and it worked. I was using my old username that I used with HBO, at some point ATT changed it to emails but allowed users to keep their ID which kinda split your account to have 2 different IDs. I recommend you go to your ATT profile and update your login to the same email address used by your account, you can also use your phone number. Once I did that I was able to login to HBO Max with no issues.
I hope this helps.

Hey everyone if your using a phone go to internet browser settings and change yo desktop view and you'll find the option to activate on account overview. If you can't figure this out just use a laptop. Phone view doesnt show the full page in which the activation button is on lol

Hey everyone if your using a cellphone make sure to go to your browser setting and hit on desktop view then go to your account overview to hit activate HBO max. When using phone view the page doesnt show the whole page including the activate button. If you cant figure this out just use a laptop or desktop and go to account overview and you'll find the button to activate. AT&T customer service is either uninformed or literal knows nothing of how the page is designed.

If there is a (Edited per community guidelines) reading this, please contact me and I'll be happy to help you take legal action against AT&T for scamming its customers. I have Unlimited Elite, but after HOURS of phone "help" nobody solves the issue or calls me back. I am paying for HBO Max, but they don't provide it.
