Why such ineptitude?

My phone got disconnected.  I don’t know how.  I was in the midst of moving and didn’t notice it until I was moved into the new apartment. I called AT&T on my cell.  A couple of days later a tech came in and installed a new Arris gateway.  It did not help.

This began hours and days of calls to AT&T.  Over a period of about 10 days(including today) I talked to 14 different people,  including one day last week, being passed from department to department 5 times.

Finally last Friday Dec 2, I was told the phone would be up on Monday Dec 5.  It was not.  Another phone call and I was promised that it would be fixed on Wed Dec 7. It was not.  A phone call today generated a promise that the phone would be fixed today.  I am skeptical.

You moved, did the phone ever work at the new location, in and out? Did you place an order to move the phone or just the Internet? Did you try a different phone, if the answer is yes to the first two questions?

The phone has never worked at the new location. I advised AT&T of my move: keep land line and internet, cancel U-verse TV. I have no other phone to try.

If everything is working except the phone sounds to me like you didn't place a move order for the phone.

It's working.  Tech came about noon.  Don't know what he did outside but he spent only 10 minutes in a junction box in here and all is well.
