Who can I talk to?
Our home phone is out for the umpteenth time, one time for over 3 months. It stopped working yesterday, no dial tone, silence, nothing. Estimated repair date is October 28th! I would like to talk to someone other than the women that answer the phone or the service technicians. There has to be an answer for this sorry service! We’ve had an account with ATT since 1976!!! We live in a very rural area, and we don’t have good cell service. My husband and I are both mid 70’s, he’s not in good health, and we need our phone in case of emergency. What can we do?

File a FCC complaint, those go to the office of the president.

Uh AT&T. Would you expect the president of the US or another company to be involved?

Your main problem is traditional landlines are being phased out so they don't want to put a lot of money into repairs, but they shouldn't make that your problem. You don't have decent cell service from any carrier?

I realize that they don’t want to fool with landlines, but there are probably many other people that rely on their home phone for communication. Not everyone has or wants a cell phone. If my mother were still living, she wouldn’t want one.
Exactly! Not my problem! I’m the one paying for a service, and it’s their job to provide that service.
I’m not sure how I could try out different carriers. That could be quite expensive.

I was thinking more of when family or friends are over ask them how their cell service is. If it's good there's wireless home phones that a regular phone plugs into. I have a Verizon wireless home phone and you can't tell it from a wired line, I've been real happy with it. Only thing is you need a good cell signal for them to work well.
