several beeps before a dial tone...

I just bought my new AT&T answering system with 3 handsets. I did call my Comcast company and told them I would like the voicemail feature taken off my phone line. They say it's off now, but when ever I try to call out with one of my landline handsets I get several beeps before I get a solid tone. HELP~ Please

that usually means you have new voice mails, even though the phone has an at&t logo at&t doesnt manufacture the phones this has zero to do with at&t and 100% with comcast

It's call stutter dial tone and as other have said it's an indication you have new voicemails, the only way to get rid of it is to listen to them and delete them or have Comcast delete them for you. They obviously haven't turn off the voicemail feature.
