We do not have a dialtone at this time. Just started this problem again today.  We had the same problem 2 weeks ago & service man came out & fixed whatever was wrong.

We can address your concern about your dial tone, 19_Dwright_41.

You can do some things if you are comfortable with a screwdriver.

  1. Locate the Telephone Network Interface. It’s usually located on the back or side of the house.
  2. Use a screwdriver to open the box. Look for a phone jack labeled customer access jack.
  3. Unplug the short telephone cord and plug in your corded phone.
  4. See if the problem still exists. If you:
    • Don’t have a clear dial tone: The problem is with the AT&T network. You can submit a repair ticket easily from the comfort of your smart device or computer here: att.com/repair
    • If you have clear dial tone: The problem is inside your home, and you should check for inside issues.
  5. Unplug the corded phone and replace the short telephone cord. Make sure you close and tighten the Telephone Network Interface cover.

Sometimes lines go bad inside your home or a wall outlet goes bad. Test different wall jacks, if nothing works, create a repair ticket. As mentioned above you can report the problem with your AT&T Home Phone on our website by submitting a repair ticket. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to att.com/repair and select Home Phone.
  2. Enter your home phone number and select Continue.
  3. Tell us about the problem you're having, then select Continue.
  4. Review any troubleshooting steps to see if you can fix it yourself.
  5. Follow the prompts to submit your ticket.

If you need help in the future, feel free to reach back out. Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community Forums.

Didn't get a response from who and what number? To report a POTS line trouble, call 866-410-7414. I'm assuming you've tested and put the trouble outside.

I am having the same issues. Periodically no dial tone. My phone says "Line in Use". I cancelled service call the day before because all was good. Today it is not good. I pay almost $100/month for what? I think AT&T wants to get rid of land lines because the system is outdated and the maintenance on the lines is too expensive. Now I have to reschedule a service call which will probably take another two weeks before it can be scheduled!

My landline has not worked for 3 months and every time I call to get a repair person sent out they send someone to install internet which is NOT what we want.  We just need our landline fixed.  I tried to put in a repair ticket and it gives me an error every time.  How do I get someone to come fix my phone.  I have been paying a bill without having a phone and I'm getting very FRUSTRATED!!!

Our landline (Edited to remove personal information) has been down since Christmas. We reported it on Jan. 6th and were told you could get to it until 1/24/23 by 8:00 p.m. It is now 1/25/23 and no contact or repair. We've been with out the phone for a month now. When will you get to it? I trust we won't be billed for this month.

You're not talking to AT&T this is a customer based forum.  The number you need to call and other information is in this topic if you'll just read it.
