How to Remove Old PAC Bell Box

How do I get rid of an old Pac Bell telecommunications box that’s in the front yard of our house? It looks pretty hazardous as it sits tilted from the ground.

They're not going to remove it as it most likely still has service going through it. If you're sure it's a phone company box than report that it's leaning and unsafe.

We can direct you to the right department, @Radimacali.

We recommend that you contact 800-288-2020 to report drooping wires, downed lines, or AT&T equipment in a yard or on the street.

Furthermore, we may be able to remove the line, but the box may not be removed to avoid damages to your siding, and exposed mounting holes that may happen as a process of removal.

To request this, follow the instructions for downed or obstructed lines.

You can call our buried wire center at 800.924.9420 Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET. Remember: This number is just for unburied ground cables.

Feel free to reach out again if you have other questions or concerns. Thanks for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

@ATTHelp did you look at the photo of the box the OP is referring to?

I suspect the leaning box belongs to local cable company.

The round pedestal in back of and to the left looks move like the telco equipment found in our area.

Thanks @my thoughts I thought it may be cable with all the vents on it, but I sure don't know what every region of the old Bell System used. Looks to me like it would be easy to straighten it up.

We can help you address your green box concerns @Radimacali.

The buried wire center may not be able to assist you with the removal of the box as stated earlier.

Thanks to @spoom2, @my thoughts for your contributions.

You may not be able to get rid of the box because the box may be in use and may be located in an easement area.

We invite you to visit AT&T Solutions Easement FAQs. There, you will want to view the section How to know if there is an Easement on your Property which states:

  • You can go to the county land records office or city hall and ask a clerk to show you a map of the easement locations. A survey of the property will also show the location of utility easements.

We hope this info helps. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.
