Keeping a long-time number
Our family has had the same home telephone number for 53 years. My Dad doesn't want the phone any more but we'd like to keep the number in case one of us moves to the area -- it would stay in the family. Is there a way to "keep" a number for some monthly amount in ATT without actually having the landline that he doesn't want in the house anymore?

You could port it to a cell phone or google voice or a number parking service. There is no way to keep it with ATT without being in service either as a landline or wireless number.

how do you port out the number? I have had conversations with three ATT representatives on two different days and no one knows how to get me the transfer PIN

Answered in the topic you opened here. There's no need to post a question more than once and opening your own topic is the correct way to do it. You posted in a topic that had nothing to do with your question.
