ATT Landline

My 88 year old mother has had this landline since 1981… same number, never disconnected until today… over 1.11. No lie… my mom is in her right mind mostly and pretty much pays her bills herself. We help when she asks but don’t push it on her. Evidently, she misread the bill because they cashed the 99.43 she owed and sent her a cutoff notice last week for one dollar and 11 cents… then, she fell. Ambulances were called and 12 stitches later now she is home without a phone over 1.11.. she wrote that check too but I didn’t get it mailed u Tim Thursday so hopefully they will get it tomorrow…. Home ATT is TERRIBLE service- that’s 50 years never late and never a problem. She made a less tha two dollar mistake and they shut her down. Tomorrow will not be a good day for some at the other end when we get them.

she pays approximately 100 bucks a month for a simple landline She cannot call 911 right now if she has to. Her cell phone doesn’t work where she lives.  ATT, y’all need to leave that line on unless it some repeated Crazy amount especially when it’s a senior citizen. The fact that this has never even happened by her  before PLUS that one dollar and eleven cent bill that probably cost more to print and mail to her should tell u to just tack that on to next months bill- it’s just a mistake.

I’m a senior but I live in reality and the reality is

The computer doesn’t know that the customer is 88 years old

The computer doesn’t care if the bill is short $1.11 or $111

The computer doesn’t care if the customer hasn’t been late in 50 years.

The algorithm has a set of standards and if those standards are not met, the consequences are the same for everyone.

My question is why is she paying $100 a month for a standard landline?

The issue is that AT&T has ZERO customer support in a situation like this or any situation for that matter. Been on HOLD & with a so called customer support representative for over 4 hours.
