TL86103

Did you finish entering the code? Since it's a code you probably won't see it displayed. Just do as the directions say and see if you get the confirmation tone. It is possible you just push the buttons it tells you to. 

Manual found here the only way I know of to keep it from showing no line is to supply 48vdc on the tip and ring. As far as the speaker automatically choosing the cell you'll just have to read through the manual, I kind of doubt it.  

No big deal, i've kinda figured it out.  The previous brand phone I owned had a way to turn off Line 1 and/or 2.  However, that's probably not necessary with TL86103.  Thanks.

Page 51 of the manual PDF page 57 tells you how to turn on and off no line message

How do you get either the base or cordless into idle mode?  For some reason I can't figure out after reading those pages a few times.

Just means not using them. Pick it up and push menu without pushing anything else. From the base just leave it hung up.

That doesn’t work when you push menu you then can’t type a number as the instructions state. It’s not possible
