Call Protect feature work?
Trying to activate the “Call Protect” feature to stop some of the many many “unavailable caller” spam calls. When I get to the page to activate the feature, I get a purple JSP Processing Failure, HTTP code 500 error. Freezes the page. Does anyone know if this feature works? We do have a voip phone.

No one on these forums can fix a broken AT&T website.

I've also been trying to activate digital phone call protect for my parents, who are getting nearly 100 scam calls per day on their VOIP landline. Seems like call protect is the only service AT&T offers which could possibly help. Even if it can't outright block most calls, just having a warning show up might be helpful...
But I also encountered the same error as Howiehstat1 when trying to activate it via myAT&T. Tried multiple browsers, clearing cookies/cache, flushing dns, etc, no effect. The issue is clearly on AT&T's side.
Called customer support, first person I talked to tried to convince me that Call Protect was a service for mobile phones only. Had to dig my heels in and explain that no, this is a service for digital phone which AT&T advertises all over the place. Eventually got redirected to L1 tech support. Was told eventually that they were unable to enable it on their end, but that it would "definitely" be activated within 72 hours. Asked for a support ticket number to track the issue, and after some cat and mouse they finally gave me a number, but told me there's no website for customers to actually track the status of the ticket.
That was two days ago, guessing I'll have to call back tomorrow asking why nothing has changed, and start the whole process over again. If there's no improvement, we'll probably have to disable the landline until we switch back to Spectrum.

In my opinion you all would be better off with a third party call blocker or a phone with good smart call protect. They do way more than phone company blocking features, any phone company. Digital call protect just doesn't do all that much as stated by those who have it.

Given my 5 day experience trying to activate this feature, spoom2 is probably right. What’s the best third party tool to use with AT&T voip? 90 year old mother-in-law get dozens of unavailable, spam, scam, crap calls every day. I think she likes answering them for sport (and loneliness) but it’s only a matter of time before she gets hurt. The sad thing is she has had this number since 1955 (yes, 1955).

@Howiehstat1 - I'm getting exactly the same result -- fail, error -- as you when trying to activate Call Protect.

@Howiehstat1, my condolences, your situation sounds similar to my own. Unfortunately no amount of education works with family members who are cognitively impaired. Mom thinks every single call that rings could be from her doctor or sister, and she forgets each one within 30 seconds. The scammers have correctly profiled her as an ideal target, which is why we get such an incredible number of calls. It's tragic that carriers and lawmakers facilitate these scammers, while assuring us their hands are tied or they're doing their best.
@spoom2, you may be correct. Interested to hear your recommendations on third party solutions. In the past I had used Nomorobo which seemed to be fairly effective, but it's unclear if that's an option with our AT&T service.
