When will HBO Max support LG TVs, Roku or Amazon Prime Video?

We would like to take advantage of the free HBO Max offer but HBO Max doesn't have an app for LG smart TVs, Amazon Prime Video or Roku devices.

I'm aware of the pricing issue AT&T is having with both Amazon and Roku.  Since Peacock quickly had an app for LG, I'm "guessing" that LG might be easier to make available for LG smart TVs?

Any idea when HBO Max might have an app for LG smart TVs?  I really don't want to access HBO Max content by running Chrome on my LG OLED TV.  Thanks!

@ts12321,

HBO Max is now available on Roku devices.

Just download HBO Max on your supported device, sign in through your TV, digital, or mobile provider, and start streaming.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for reaching out about your LG TV and HBO Max compatibility question @ts12321!

We do not have any info on if/when the HBO MAX app will become available on LG TVs. We do have a helpful information page regarding HBO Max and ways you can stream it.

There are other possible ways of using the HBO Max app on non-compatible TVs, such as, using a Playstation 4, Xbox One, Chromecast, Airplay, or by hooking up your computer directly to the TV via HDMI.

Please let us know if this helps resolve the issue!

Xbox One,(DON'T HAVE IT)

Any other suggestions????

Thanks for the reply and suggestions.

We own 2 Roku Ultra streaming devices and don't plan to buy another piece of hardware (why would we want to?), so the alternatives won't help.

Please let us know when HBO Max will be available on LG smart TVs as well as Roku and Amazon Prime Video.

Thanks

I really like HBOMax content, but I literally hate streaming via Chromecast, controlling my TV from my phone or PC. I own an LG Smart TV and 3 Roku devices. I am going to have to cancel my subscription a 2nd time as this is just unusable the way it is currently required to view. Please let your leaders know we need Roku & LG TV solutions ASAP. Every other streaming service supports these platforms.

If I have to choose, I am also going to pick my Roku devices over HBO Max. We have thousands of things we enjoy watching on the Roku, it's always going to be what we turn on first and then decide.  If HBO Max isn't on there, my GF will see Neflix or Hulu or Disney, and how often am I going to go get my laptop to look up something then try to cast it? She'll have already found 5 things she wants to watch and we'll never get to HBO.

Now that Game of Thrones is ruined forever ATT/HBO should be doing everything they can to keep us watching.

It'll be the first thing to go for us without an HBO Max on the Roku.

So I can't get HBO Max on my LG TV; can't get it on my Roku, nor through Amazon.  I called AT&T customer service, which was zero help.  (Your customer service is terrible by the way.)

It appears your wonderful HBO Max is only available to me on my computer or cell phone.  Not going to start watching your shows and movies on those devices; great for young people, but not me.

I also do not want to use or own any of the alternatives listed above. I bought an LG Smart TV with the expectation that streaming apps would be developed and available quickly for this platform. It is now December and this service debuted in May. That seems like plenty of time to have this app developed and ready for customers. I guess my next TV will have to be a Samsung or an Android TV.

I just solved my problem of having a Roku.  Roku went kaput and I'm replacing it with an Amazon Fire Stick.  Same price as a new Roku but at least now I can watch HBO Max.  Win/Win.

Hey AT&T-if you want my $15/month for HBO Max, you’ll have to develop an app for LG Web OS tvs.  As soon as you do, I’ll sign up!

I have two LG TVs with apps to various streaming services, but then signed up for HBO max, only to find out that they sold exclusive SmartTV rights to Samsung. (Edited per community guidelines)?!? First of all, I'll never buy another Samsung (which is Korean for sh*t) and since it seems you only want Samsung customers...you know what, that's what you're gonna get.

After the runaround I’ve gotten the entire time of owning a LG tv I can say this... I will never buy another LG product. It’s about the dumbest excuse of a smart tv I’ve had. We literally just bought the off brand Android 70” from Best Buy and it’s infinity better than our LG. I’ve had nothing but issues with the LG since we got it. I even had to create the second network and sign on to the guest network to get consistent connectivity with it. What a joke.
