HBO Max saying my subscription has expired

I tried deleting the HBO app and reinstalling and signed in through my provider. Went to the website and signed in with ATT and typed in the code on the screen and the message said I was all set. Then it took me to a page still trying to sell me a plan. What’s going on? The whole family is gathered to watch a movie and this is frustrating.

Hello Community,

This issue is usually caused when a customer has multiple products with AT&T that were getting HBO included, and one went away.  For example, if you had wireless and DirecTV, you may have had HBO Max included with both of them.  However, you may have lost that bonus for one or the other product based on your plan or promotion expiring.  This can cause confusion in the system.

To resolve, please log out of all of your devices that use HBO Max.

  • Go to your HBO Max Account by clicking on your username (on laptop/PC) or settings (on phone).
  • Choose "Manage Devices"
  • Choose  "Sign All Devices Out"

Once all HBO Max enabled devices are logged out, then try logging in with only the product you currently get HBO Max included with.  If you have DirecTV with HBO Max, use your DirecTV login.  If you get HBO Max with our unlimited wireless plan, use your AT&T login.

You can also find a complete list of steps to troubleshoot this error on our HBO Max Help page.

If after doing this, you still have the issue, please ask a new question and we'll assist as soon as possible.

Ok I wanted to follow up and say I fixed the issue after reading some confusing articles. First of all, for some reason, I had to activate my  free HBO privileges again with ATT, even though I did this a year ago and have watched it for free all that time no problem. So this was definitely a problem that originated on ATT’s side. I tried cache deleting and all that, nothing worked until I RE-activated the HBO offer in my ATT account….even then nothing worked until I unplugged my fire stick and internet and let it fully reset. It isn’t very easy to find the HBO offer in your ATT account, but if dig around until you do and follow these steps and problem should resolve. Even after I reactivated the offer, HBO didn’t get the message until I deleted and uninstalled everything again for the fourth and final time (I tried the first three times before the ATT fix to no avail).
