Off air antenna

I installed the antenna to get the NBC affiliate that has been off since August. It still just shows the channel unavailable picture. I hooked the antenna directly to the tv, and the channel comes in clearly. How do I get the box to allow this channel, insread of the dead one.

Your DirecTV box cannot receive off-air antenna stations.  You need to use your TV.

Once upon a time DirecTV provided the AM21 Off-Air Tuner Accessory so that you could integrate off-air stations with your DirecTV satellite channels, but that product is no longer available.  Supposedly a replacement Local Channel Connector will be available soon.

Actually, I was sent the local tv connector from Direct tv, just this week. They said it would allow me to watch the local NBC channel. It works with my other local channels in the grid and allows you to record on your dvr. They can't agree to terms with local affiliate. NBC has been off the sattelite since august.

The LCC should allow you to receive all of your local off-air channels, including KSL.

Do you have the lcc itself connected to the genie?

It is connected directly to the genie, and am able to access some of the local channels. When tuning to KSL, I just get the direct tv promise screen.  I know the antenna is receiving becsuse I hooked it directly to the tv, and the picture is fine.

Ok so the antenna connects to the TV directly and the lcc connects to the genie, is this how you have yours connected?

Do you see multiple entries for KSL Ch5 in your program Guide?  Be sure to tune to the entry for the off-air channel.

If you see the directv promise screen you are tuned to the wrong channel. The LCC does not modify the satellite channel it adds the offair channel separately. Did you follow all the instructions for connecting the LCC and then setting up the offair locals? If you just plug in the LCC, nothing will happen.
