Directv standard universal Remote control transport buttons

remote transport controls

I have a swm system that contains 2 DVRS (older models I believe they are HR24/500 units and 2 small genie first generation slave units. I'm using the Directv universal remote controls on all 4 units, however in live tv the transport controls, play, stop, fast forward, pause and rewind will not work on the 2 genie units. They will work on anything recorded. All other functions on the remote control will work. The remote controls working the HR24'S work fine.
What can I do to get the transport controls working on the small genie boxes?

What model are your main Genie and Mini Genie Clients?

What model remote are you trying to use? (upper left corner)

So the buttons work fine for what is recorded, but not live TV itself?

Live TV has to buffer before those controls work.

Since the issue is only on the Mini Genies, try a red button reset on the main Genie and only when complete to do the same on the Mini Genies. This is because the main Genie controls the Clients and they cannot work without the main Genie working correctly. For this reason a regular HDDVR like your HR24 is much better than a Client as gives you 2 tuners instead of stealing 1 from the Genie and has 500GB recording space.

Genie systems use the RC7X series, the Genie or "peanut" style remote. HR24s and earlier use the RC6X, the old big white universal remote.
