We're here to help, @terkoh!

Could you let us know what type of Genie and Genie Remote you currently have with us, so we can look into what other troubleshooting options are available for you?

We look forward to hearing back from you!

Hi,

So you’re telling me the remote is shot/unrepairable? You’re not telling me anything. Thank you.

Hello @terkoh,

We understand that you're still having trouble with your remote. Don't worry, we can see what we can do to help.

Does the remote not work at all? if so that would need to be replaced.

Have you tried refreshing your equipment?

With all due respect I already told you. Rewind quit round 3 days ago. When you press rewind, light at top of remote in middle of on & off buttons does not come on. EVERYTHING ELSE ON REMOTE WORKS.

Do I need to send pics again?

Hi, @terkoh.

We are here to help.

We suggest that you refresh your receiver because it restores all the functions and packages to your receiver and remote.

If you are having trouble with the remote after that, we suggest that you order a new remote.

Let us know if this helps.

Yes have done that several times. Do I have to buy your remote or can I get a universal like at Walmart? Thx.

@terkoh.

You should be able to use a 3rd party universal remote for your receiver, but you would have to find out if the remote is compatible. Before you look into that though, we'd recommend checking out our article on getting a new remote control for DIRECTV.

Let us know if this helps!
