What model box? Just to check if returnable in the first place.

How To Return The Equipment

Go to a FedEx or UPS location with your account #. No need to bring a box or label, the equipment will be boxed it up & shipped out at no charge. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

Find FedEx Office locations at www.fedex.com/attreturns.

Find The UPS Store locations at www.theupsstore.com/locations.

If over 10 miles away from a participating shipper, then DirecTV sends you a prepaid return kit. They never send you just address info as customers do not pay or arrange for return shipping themselves.

I've already spoken to AT&T numerous times explaining that there is no Fed-Ex/UPS store anywhere near me and they never offered to send anything to me. I will not be calling them again. They transferred me several times and I waited online for several hours.

@Alison_12345 this is a customer forum not at&t so no one here can take care of your issue and calling it the only way to remedy it unless if @Juniper can determine if your boxes are in fact returnable or not.

I've already received an email from AT&T about returning the equipment.

Ok so you have the 2nd generation Genie (HR44). A few other people in the last couple of months have received notifications confirming that model was not returnable. At least through the end of last year it was a returnable model, but with the 3rd generation (HR54), a revised version (HR54R1), and heavily pushing the Genie-2 (HS17) that may have just changed this year.

If there is no participating shipping location within 10 miles, then calling for a prepaid return kit is the only option. Goes to your physical service address by FedEx, but with return through USPS (not UPS).

Since you say you will not call them again, I would hold onto the box for at least 2 months. This way it gives enough time for the return time frame to expire, account billed a non-return fee (NRF), and receive the bill showing it. If no NRF within that time, then you are free to recycle the box (just dispose of the access card first like you would a credit card).

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. Just one thing the box has no card.

The HR44 will not work without an access card. Front panel, right side is the access card door.

The new one the card is on the right side but the old one has a door on the front right side. I never looked inside.

Larger receivers have the door on the front, smaller designed ones a slot on the side, extremely old legacy boxes had it stick partway out a back. Just leave the card in if you return the receiver, but remove and securely dispose if you recycle.

If you have any Mini Genies, those don't have their own card as they are a Client of the Genie and not a receiver themselves.
