Program recording shows 1hr but unable to watch it

Program appears as successfully recorded in LIST. Duration shows as 1 hour. Clicked on Play, we get black screen with the message you get when you finish watching an entire recording, "Would you like to delete this recording? —Yes, Delete / No, Don't delete". This happens often and is so frustrating!

We can help you with that here. Let's begin with some troubleshooting steps. Please reset your DIRECTV receiver.

If you are still experiencing a black screen while recording after a reset of your receiver, try refreshing your service. Please keep in mind a brief service interruption occurs as the service reboots.

I have the exact same problem. The "black screen" has nothing to do with the issue. It is what happens when the "delete y/n" question appears. Reseting etc will not fix this problem. I can tell you that with me this only has happened with recordings from the FX channel.
