Problem

On one of my TVs, when I try to watch a show I recorded, I just get a black screen. I reset the box and it worked for a few days, but having the same problem again.

We want to help with your recordings, @shelly5th!

Does this happen for every recording on that receiver, or a specific one? If it's just one, do you have trouble watching live TV on that one receiver?

Are you able to access the same recording(s) on a different receiver?

What type of receiver is connected to the TV that this is happening on?

Try refreshing your equipment online, to fix any possible software hangups.

If refreshing doesn't work, let us know more, so we can take a closer look.

This happens only on this one receiver and for any and all shows recorded on it. I havd reset the receiver with the little red button on the front and it then worked for a few days. Everything was black again for two days and tonight it’s working. What could the problem be?

It sounds like a low signal issue or possibly a loose coax cable

I’ll check to see if all the cables are tightened. Thanks,

I checked the cables and although they all seemed to be connected, i tightened them. The problem only occured from time to time so hopefully won’t happen again for a while.

I have another problem now. Some of the shows I record on other tvs in the house dont show up on my play list on this same tv. Again, this only happens from time to time. It happened tonight. Tonight, i also got a message on the screen that said ... directv mini genie not connecting to server. What does that mean and how can I fix it?

The genie is the server to the minis, minis don't work on their own, check connections at the genie and then reset the genie.
