Only see recordings I did

My mother keeps deleting shows/movies that I have set to record.  Is there always for to only see or have access to the shows/movies that's she has recorded and visa versa?

We have 1 DVR and a little wireless box.

We are both on SSI and don't have money to spend on expensive equipment so any help or ideas would be great.

Sounds like you have a genie and a mini, so no you can't separate recordings since the mini works from the genie not by itself,  you would need to replace the mini with another dvr.

If your genie is a genie2 (hs17) then you can only have minis so you're stuck with the current setup

The only wireless boxes are Mini Genie Clients (C41W and C61W are the only wireless models). Clients are an extension of the same Genie, so it is one DVR together with no way to block the Client from managing the recordings.

If you have a regular Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54) then call DirecTV and upgrade the Client to an HDDVR. This comes with 2 tuners (instead of stealing 1 from the Genie), and its own 500GB hard drive for recordings. The Genie DVR and regular HDDVR can still see each other's recordings, but you can set it so you can only delete locally (so each box is protected).

There is no monthly cost difference between HDDVR and Client. However it would need to be wired in by a tech, and like all upgrades comes with a 24 month service agreement.

Hey @RARiggs6970,

We are here to help with your inquiry. There is no way to delete/hide the DVR recordings from another user. You will need to speak to your mother about your recordings. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Let us know if this helps.

Max your response is inaccurate.

HDDVRs (including Genie) can hide recordings from each other, or lock deletion to local only. This is essential to Whole Home DVR.

It is only Clients that are restricted as they are extensions of the Genie, so have full access to it. If you have a mix of Genie, Clients, and other HDDVRs, you can set it so the Genie and Clients cannot delete what is on the regular HDDVRs and vice versa, or even hide from each other.
