Mobile DVR registering Genie 2

I recently had the Genie 2 installed. Now i cannot register my home dvr from my mobile phone. I can register from my fire tablet but not from my phone. I have reset my genie 2 twice. I have deleted and reinstalled the App on my Samsung 9.  Can someone please help!Screenshot_20190101-182908_DIRECTV.jpgThis is the code after attempting to register for several minutes

Hi There @Bil901

We understand that you are getting an error on your phone saying that you cannot connect to your DVR.  We can help with that. 

 

Please follow the steps provided:

 

  1. Press MENU on your remote
  2. Go to Settings and press SELECT
  3. Select Network Setup then Connect Now (Note: If your Genie HD DVR was previously connected to your home Wi-Fi network and the connection was lost, select Restore Defaults before selecting Connect Now)
  4. Select Continue
  5. Enter the Network Name and Password manually on your router.

After that your DVR should be reconnected to the same WIFI as your phone is. You should be able to register the phone.

The ability to stream out-of-home has been removed for all Genie DVRs.  Now you can only stream from your Genie DVR when connected to your home network.  You'll need to download recordings to your device if you want to view them out-of-home. Or get a Slingbox.

Does it have to be on wifi? Will it still work on the same network if it is a wired connection to the Genie 2? I am also unable to connect to the DVR, I can see the two wired 4K mini, but not the wireless. Have uninstalled the app,cleared data and cache.

I tried this solution but am still receiving the error that “We couldn’t connect to your DVR”. On the Genie 2, there is not a “Network” sub menu within Settings.  But I think I found the same area to update.  The DVR is connected to the network and internet.

As of March 4th the app no longer supports streaming from the Genie.

Thanks for this response as well.  I was actually unable to stream on my device while at home and connected to my home network.  I also did not have the option to download recorded content.  When I click the “Register Device” link in the App, it processes for a while and then returns “We couldn’t connect to your DVR” message.
