Genie 2 upgrades
Want to upgrade master and 3 mini genies to genie 2 sys. Have one tv on an old debt,not connected to the genies... can we upgrade and still use the tv on the older dvr?...works ok on the genie 1 system....

The Genie-2 (HS17) is a downgrade to a regular Genie setup. It forbids other receivers, only allowing Clients. A Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54) and 2 HDDVRs is more capability than the restrictive Genie-2.

As he stated, you would be better off sticking with the regular genie receiver. Please tell us more about he set up that you have including the receiver models.

As long as the other DVR is an HR model (or R22), then you the box is fine. Though since it is not connected, I take it is on a separate dish? If so make sure that is a MPEG-4/HD capable dish or it will need replacing.
If the DVR is a R16 or earlier, then box needs MPEG swap.
Either way, I would use your next free upgrade to replace a Mini Genie Client with an HDDVR so you get more capability and reliability, at no difference in monthly cost.
