I have two TV's with Directv. One main Genie HD receiver and one mini genie. On both, the audio is out of sync with the picture.

Good morning @rshort40,
Based on other users experiencing similar issues in the forums, you may need to reconfigure your audio and video cables connecting from the genie, to your soundbar, to your T.V.
Please let me know if this works out for you.

Hello @rshort40, I certainly understand how annoying that is, let’s get your audio issue fixed!
Have you tried resetting your genie by pressing the red reset button?
Please let me know if that solves your issue!
I have tried resetting both my main Genie DVR and Mini Genie and that didn't help.

Some TVs have a lip sync control.
Thanks. I have two 2018 Sony XBR TV's and I don't see a lip sync setting. I have a Sony soundbar on one of the TV's that has an audio delay setting. I tried fiddling with that setting but for some reason that doesn't seem to help. I have the same problem whether I use my external sound systems or just the TV speakers. However, the sound and picture are perfectly synchronized when watching Netflix so I know the problem is with Directv. I have a super-long cable (maybe 70 - 100 feet) from my satellite dish to my DVR and the picture is not that great so maybe the cable is the issue.
The coax has nothing to do with it.
That worked for the Sony XBR TV with the soundbar (Sony HTZ9F)! Now the picture and audio from Directv are in sync (Setup: Genie HDMI to > Soundbar HDMI, then Soundbar HDMI ARC > TV HDMI ARC). I did notice that the audio when watching Netflix is now a little out of sync but not too bad (Netflix setup is Ethernet > TV > HDMI ARC to soundbar). Now I have to tackle the other TV - The challenge there will be that the receiver is an older Denon that lacks an HDMI ARC connection and the ability to pass through a 4K signal. Current setup with audio sync issues is Genie HDMI > Sony XBR TV HDMI, then TV Digital Optical cable to Denon Reciever. I will try switching that one to Genie HDMI > Denon HDMI, then Denon HDMI to TV HDMI. My reason for not doing this in the first place is my older Denon is not 4K compatible. For Netflix I will use the Digital Optical to my Denon and hope that the Denon auto-senses the audio source (HDMI when watching Directv and Digital Optical when watching Netflix).
Try using the Genie's optical output if your's has it, otherwise you need a digital audio to optical converter to the Denon

This just started after having dtv for several years. I just bought a 4K HDR tv and Everything has been fine for months. NOW all of a sudden the out of sync audio starts. If att’s only solution is to give the genie the ARC hdmi port then that’s just plain silly. Especially off a genie. That spot is reserved for high end gaming consoles/PC’s that actually use all the functionality.
I’m seriously just about done with the whole service. Nothing but problems since ATT aquired the company. If I can’t get a serious fix in the next couple days I’m done. My setup isn’t that complicated. HDMI from the genie to the tv. Doesn’t get much more simple. If it can’t be in sync with that setup then I don’t know what to tell you.
And the outsourced customer service is about as helpful as a brick would be.

I also have the same problem with Direct TV and a HR24. I have a brand new Denon 4K receiver, HDMI going from direct tv into the receiver, receiver out into my TV. No issues with audio timing from any programs from my apple TV, just from Direct TV. It varies from channel to channel how bad it is. Both my receiver and TV have adjustments, I can make it better but not perfect. And of course that then throws my apple TV out of sync.
I am tired of my wife yelling at me about this.
How can we improve?
