Only some of my dvr shows recorded appear on the app when I’m away from home

When I am home, on my home WiFi, and I access the watch your dvr function in the directv app, I can access and watch all the shows currently Recorded on my dvr.  No problems there. 

However, when I am away from home, and on another person’s WiFi or on my cellular data and I try to use the watch your dvr function in the directv app, only some of shows from the dvr appear. Many of my recorded shows do not appear for me to watch.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app in my home on my WiFi to try and re-sync it up and it works in my home but not outside of my home WiFi.  

Please advise as I really enjoy accessing all my dvr show recorded when I’m away from my home.

Here is more information about streaming on the DIRECTV APP, including streaming shows outside of your home. There are going to be some restrictions on what shows or channels are available outside of you home. For the best results, we recommend that you stream on your home network.

Streaming DVR recordings out of home was removed over a year ago. Now for out of home you watch what is available for streaming from the app itself, or before you leave home to download shows to your mobile device (keeps for 30 days and must have 2nd gen Genie HR44 or later for option).

Thanks for that info.   I wasn’t aware of that.  
But then why can I see some of the shows that are on my DVR.  For example, a show I recorded the previous Sunday evening was there to watch but another show I recorded earlier the same day did not show up?  It’s strange.

Hey @gokeyjo,

 

There are two reasons that for the show not showing up. As Marc said earlier, there are some restrictions on shows or channels that are available on the app. If the DVR recorded a show that is restricted from broadcasting on the DirecTV app, it will not show up. 

Also, there can be a delay from when the DVR synchronizes with your DirecTV app. You can force a synchronization by refreshing your DirecTV services.

Thanks Max. I’ve tried to refresh my receivers but only the genie 2 would refresh. My 3 genie mini would not refresh. I will have to call Directv for help. 

I don’t think I’m having a problem with restrictions because for example, I have recorded 20 epIsodes of my sons Teen Titans On my home Dvr but when I’m away from home or on another persons WiFi, and I go into the app it says I only have 5 episodes of teen titans.  So it allows the show, but is not allowing me to access all the episodes I have taped.  And then of course it doesn’t show on the app other shows recorded.

it might be a refresh issue because I also notice when I’m on the app, it still shows shows I’ve watched and deleted a while back even though they don’t appear on the actual genie dvr in my house. So it’s on the app but not the actual genie dvr. 

any other insight you might have would be welcomed.

Hey @gokeyjo,

 

When you refresh your services. It will only work on the DVRs as you have noticed. The receivers will automatically get the update from your DVR. 

Here is a way to register your mobile devices to your DVR. Has resolved trouble similar to what you are experiencing.
